I've heard this before...
Hendricks should have gotten the shot but hopefully he'll make a statement against Ellenberger and they'll have no choice but to give it to him.

i think he's got a big challenge up ahead with ellenberger. if Ko's ellenberger than that should be a guaranteed title shot.

Exactly... the word "likely" is convenient for Dana to use because it isn't binding, it isn't definite and it will keep himself clear from criticism when he doesn't give Hendricks a shot. lol
It sounds to me like he is just trying to placate Hendricks and keep him strung along.
I think Dana is hoping someone will beat Hendricks so that he doesn't get a shot period. I think he has been hoping for this all along. Hendricks is not a money maker. He is just a plain Joe. Sure he has some fans but he isn't a big draw. Unfortunately for Hendricks the game isn't about integrity, rankings or success in the cage...it is about money.. Plain Joe don't sell tickets.

It all depends on whether GSP thinks Hendricks deserves it, b/c GSP doesn't want to face a guy who might have lost a fight to someone he already beat.

There isn't much legitimacy in title shots now-a-days, but if Hendricks doesn't get one if he wins his next fight...any legitimacy that's left will be completely lost.
There is NOONE else who has:
Beaten a top 15.
Beaten #2.
Beaten #3.
Beaten a top 10.
And didn't get a title shot.
Add on another beaten top 10 in that win streak, and I'd say it's the most successful run, with the exception of GSP's run, in WW history.
Not giving this guy a title shot if he wins would be a damn crime.
And Dana uses the word "likely".
