Anthony Pettis had to hear the news like everyone else recently that former Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez would get the next crack at Benson Henderson and the UFC lightweight title.
Since defeating Henderson in the final WEC fight to close out 2010, Pettis has been waiting for a shot at the belt, only to have delays, rematches and now other opponents step in the way of him receiving his long awaited crack at the title...

This is going to be an AWESOME fight but I'm torn between who to cheer for. Both Anthony Pettis and Donald Cerrone are my favorite fighters to watch.
I don't know who to ROOT for !!!

I like Pettis. A great fighter to watch, but his loss to Guida was proof enough for me that he didnt deserve a title shot in the first place. A win over Joe Stephenson and a KO of Lauzon doesnt necessarily scream murderers row either. Cerrone will be tough, but he isnt a top 5 lightweight. I personally think Pettis needs this win over Cerrone and then one more.

A win over the current UFC LW champ isn't the worst thing to have on your resume either man.

you are right about the win over bendo, but i think bendo has improved more than pettis has. i do think that a title shot for pettis would be justified, but i still would like him to fight a few more times.

Unless he wins in devastating fashion I agree one more fight is needed such as Jim Miller
