It's been some turnaround for Cub Swanson. The exciting featherweight was the victim of the Jose Aldo double flying knee back in the WEC, and it looked like his career was stagnating following just a 2-2 record by the end of 2011. Swanson instead reeled off a memorable 2012, knocking out George Roop, Ross Pearson, and Charles Oliveira (winning KOTN in the latter two). He starts 2013 with a co-main event fight against Dennis Siver at UFC on FUEL 7 in London on February 16th. According to Swanson, he was told that this fight is for the #1 contender.

Funny, and not too long ago people were claiming FW was a weak division. Could have just been teh smash

That probably makes the most sense but is kind of bull shit. Lamas tapped Cub and if he beats Koch then he took out all contenders in the class not named Zombie.

Who told Cub? Dana? Because he word doesn't mean anything.
Also #1 contenders aren't getting the title shots anyways these days.

that will be the classic "number one contender gets screwed" scenario. Siver/Cub for the title is just not that exciting or marketable. They will think of something else I bet. If Frankie has another close fight or wins outright I bet they do a rematch. So the FW title may not even be up for grabs until the fall anyway.
Also, any good LW who drops is automatically at the top of the list. I think Guida is supposed to fight Hioki at FW....if he wins that he should be the top contender. His UFC career is p4p just better than almost all FW's right now, regardless of the numerous losses.

i would be more interested in watching cub fight aldo again than siver or even KZ. i think aldo will beat all of them, but if i ahd to pick a title fight it would be cub vs aldo. i think it would be very exciting.
