Forum Resurrection! General MMA Training thread, Begin with what have/do you train?

I've kickboxed for 5+ years
Done MMA for in total probably a little over 6 months
And did Judo when I was a kid for a few years.

Boxing all through high school until today (14 odd years)

Would love to do BJJ/Muay Thai/Judo/MMA training, but back problems (rheumatoid arthritis) make it really for me to get down low or take falls. Maybe I can find some more relaxed classes, where I don't have to emulate little people flipping all over the place

Wrestled for 8 years before joining the Corps....now I do little six months sessions here and there in different practices, my number one being boxing.....Muay Thai is fun but leg kick are a mutha and anyone who tells you otherwise is a fool. I like watching bjj but my years wrestling has led me to be a failure at it as my natural instinct leads me into trouble against skilled opponents. Clinch work to me is a highly underrated, unsung hero of fighting, difficult as hell, physically taxing and if your opponent doesn't understand it you can hurt him real bad there. I won't ever compete as a professional but I have done four amateur fights when I was training in 2007-2009.....didn't do bad at all but it's very different than a street fight for sure.

I have 6 years of Jeet Kune do. But to be honest somewhere in that 6 years we turned into a MMA school. The school had the JKD base but testing wasn't mandatory. I have been off for a year and I'm thinking about going to a Renzo Gracie school in the city. I have 2 Amateur Kickboxing fights. Countless subgrappling matches. I have Cornered a bunch of Ammy kickboxing and MMA fights, Coached the teens at the subgrappling events. Most proud of running a fight camp for a fighter. It was his PRO debut in MMA and he trusted me to run his camp. It was my first time running a camp. I had a ball he looked better then he ever did. Won the fight didn't get to put the dude away but had 2 10-8 rds.

how'd you get into the boxing?

Staying out of trouble Ex-Pacific boxing champ was my gym coach, and he took me under his wing.

I'm also instructing a self defence class two nights a week for beginner and intermediate level, with another guy who does TKD hahaha but we don't teach that shit

Have been training bjj, wrestling, and judo for 6 1/2 years.

We did sambo at the gym minimally but stopped for some reason

Boxing I do as I hobby only to spar. I'm decent . No golden glove winner though
