While Dominick Cruz's mixed martial arts career has braked for a pit stop, he'll be getting help from the racing world to get back on track.
Cruz, the UFC's bantamweight champion, is being sponsored by the Phoenix International Raceway for his next fight, which is expected to take place in early 2013. The 27-year-old will wear the track's logo on his shirt and shorts.
A torn ACL has sidelined Cruz since May, but that didn't stop him from getting behind the wheel of a pace car.

I don't understand a racetrack sponsoring someone... what is their key demographic? People planning giant races in the Arizona area? Even if you're in Phoenix, it's the events that bring people in not the raceway. Its like him being sponsored by the Staples Center or something. This sponsorship appeals to what, 0.00001% of the population? What am I not getting here lol

As a fan of both the MMA world and the auto world, I'm very excited to see this mix. This is just the beginning, eventually we'll see fighters sponsored by auto groups. Actually now that I think about it, wasn't Faber sponsored by Mercedes Benz? They gave him a car, then he got a matching one for his mom. Or maybe that was just a dealership

It definitely is kinda weird. Would make way more sense if a race team was doing a sponsorship, but it puts money in his pocket, so more power to him.
Watch Fox, have a problem with it since it's a race they don't air.
