I what weight class i would be in...the only reason i question this is because I think my normal weight is right around 185, but i have been as low as 166 and in HS when i played goalie my senior year i was up to 200 and i was in great shape. Does this just mean i could fight anywhere from welter to light heavy? Im really curious how that works

If your normal weight is around 185 you could make 170.

Yea...is it better or easier to fight lower than your normal weight? I mean i wouldn't want to fight at 205 against someone who is normally 225 or 230 so i guess that makes sense. So is it best to trim down and work on strength at the same time or work on strength and conditioning than cut weight before a fight?

Definitely 170. Its all about dieting, then safe cutting. Control your diet and workout regimen so you can get down to about 175-178 the week you'll be weighing in. Then you'll have no problem at all cutting 4-7 pounds in the sauna.

I currently weigh 185, Ive come down from about 203, I think by continuing my diet and exercise regime, I could get down to 172ish easy, then cut two pounds and fight.

Thats interesting...I think 170 is a great weight class...i know fighters have obviously gone up weight classes before but that is much harder than going down weight classes as far as competition goes

Usually you just want to go as leight as you can so if you were at 166 you could possibly get down to 155 but i would say probably 170.Its always better to be lighter so you can be a stronger opponet. As for me im at 200 but i would drop to 185.

It depends. If you are under 6 ft tall it would be wise to stay at 185 or under.
