Former Oklahoma State University wrestler and recent World Extreme Cagefighting light heavyweight Mark Munoz (5-0 MMA, 2-0 WEC) is headed to the UFC.

Munoz is one of the chosen few WEC light heavyweights and middleweights who will head to the UFC following the WEC's recent elimination of its 205- and 185-pound weight classes.

Munoz sealed the deal with a first-round TKO of Ricardo Barros at the Dec. 3 WEC 37 event.

Ron Kruck confirmed the move during the Dec. 5 edition of "Inside MMA" on HDNet.

Jeez LHW is going to start looking like welter weight in the UFC with this huge influx of wrestlers coming in. I don't give Munoz much of a chance in the upper ecehlon of LHW right now. He'll get beat up on the feet.

Munoz deserves a spot in the UFC. He looks like he's come a long way in a relatively short period of time, as I believe he's only been training MMA for about two years (it took Urijah Faber pestering him since 2004 to get him in MMA).

I'm typically not a huge fan of wrestlers/GnP guys. It's just not a style I njoy watching. A much bigger fan of strikers and submission specialists, so I'm glad the current roost of LHW's is for the most part ruled by strikers and well rounded fighters.

I'd like to see him up against another wrestler...maybe Matt Hammil. The more likely scenario is a newcomer Munoz can easilly beat.
