World Extreme Cagefighting officials recently announced that former featherweight champion Urijah Faber (23-4-2 MMA, 8-3 WEC) would be making his 135-pound debut for the promotion in August in a featured WEC 50 matchup with Takeya Mizugaki (13-4-2 MMA, 2-2 WEC).

Some MMA observers speculated that Faber's April loss to Jose Aldo prompted WEC officials to recommend a drop in weight to the 5-foot-6 "California Kid."

This past weekend, at a media function promoting this Sunday's "WEC 49: Varner vs. Shalorus" event, Harris said Faber's decision to drop to bantamweight was his to make, and the switch isn't necessarily permanent.

Of course the move won't be permanent if Aldo also makes the move. I like this for the time being, though. I'd *LOVE* to see Faber vs. Torres.

Well, it's doubtful he was ever going to beat Brown and he'd need a saints blessing to beat Aldo at this point, so they might have urged him because they still think he can be a champ, but it was the right move for him at this time.

I think he could eventually beat Brown but not Aldo. This is a great move since he was small at 145.

I thnk at this point there are more fights for him at BW than FW to be honest. He has just fought and destroyed too many at FW to have much there for him if he isn't fighting for the belt. It's like a reverse Rich Franklin move.
