While WEC executives wait for a resolution that will get Versus and thus WEC back on DirecTV, WEC GM Reed Harris also revealed that the promotion will "definitely" go to the PPV model in 2010. No date yet but Harris says it depends on the Versus schedule, particularly with the schedule for the Tour De France, which airs in the US on Versus.

Would I pay $44.95? Not a chance.

Would I pay, say, $19.95? Possibly.

Do I think this will be a success? Meh. I don't think so.

I love the WEC, but they wouldn't come close to doing PPV numbers the UFC does yet, it'll take a lot longer than a year to reach that point. I say just bring the WEC to Spike, I mean does Spike really need anymore CSI anyway? At the bare minimum just keep it on Versus and let the WEC grow more superstars like Brown, Faber, Bowles and Torres.

$9.95, Thats it. The UFC will only go up in price in the future.

$4.99, and I still wouldn't pay it, nor go to a bar for it. Stream city.

I'd pay $20 probably not much more. Who can afford to pay for the UFC and WEC events, would have to be a trade off. This is a bad idea

I think this will be a resounding failure, I am a pretty hardcore fan I love the WEC. I will never pay for it.

Why? People can't have opinions on PPV prices?

I was told by a mod that having an opinion on anything was a conspiracy. I'm all for people being allowed to speak freely. I also think WEC on PPV will flop unless the price is very low.

That's not what you were told. And what you posted was an opinion that you were passing off as fact by saying "I'm certain..."

I'm certain that Nelson was told not to inflict a maximum amount of damage. He could have mounted and wrecked Kimbo's face with less effort.

Both Rule #13 and Rule #14 mention it.

13. Do not engage in wild conspiracy theory's about fixed fights on the forums. Unless an athletic commission convicts someone of it, or BOTH FIGHTERS in a fight openly agree that it happened, it need not be discussed here. There is no advantage to be gained by discrediting the sport you love, which is the reason you are here in the first place

14. Do not post your OPINION as a FACT. Two facts: "water is wet", "the sky is blue". A non-fact: "Jon Doe will beat Joe Blow and you all know it" when they have never even fought before.

yeah WEC is pretty awesome but I can't do it, cant throwdown $50 for a wec event, they better sign up all the talent in the 135/145 divisions, like all of it..

Main event would have to be Mike Brown vs Kid Yamamota and then maybe

I think they're just throwing this out there to guage what kind of interest they can expect from a WEC PPV. As we all know ZUFFA watches the forums like a hawk--as was displayed when they cancelled Rich vs Dan 2.

I doubt it will happen, but they're going to continue hint at a PPV until they get the response they're looking for--then it's full steam ahead.

I freakin love the WEC. Most of the times the cards are more exciting than UFC cards IMO. Would I pay for it? Not likely. I'm only likely to pay for a PPV fight if friends are willing to come over and watch it as a group. What am I going to do... sit there on the couch by myself paying $40 for a WEC event? Not likely to happen.

The names just aren't big enough in the grand scheme of things. Honestly what have we seen done to push any of the great WEC fighters' names? Most of what you see is mentioned on Vs., or occasionally on a UFC PPV. They need to bring it to Spike or some other popular channel before they make the jump to PPV. Otherwise it just won't work. Same reason why Hockey on Vs. Network is a giant failure.

ahhh, tried to give you props but have to spread the love, shouldnt really make a post about it but I cant help it if certain members are, more informed, better spoken, just flat out better posters than others,

no props but much respect from me for your insight, if it wasnt for that damn "spread the love" garbage you would probably have 2000 props.

WAR JACKELOPE!!

off topic, it's all about you brother, puff that chest out and take a little pride in what you do.

EDIT: My avatar describes me perfect for when I cant give props.

i might pay 20 to see Brown, Aldo, Torres, Faber, maybe a few others.

The thing is that it might not have to get big numbers to be worthwhile for them. Versus might not be paying them much of anything right now. King of the Cage is regularly on PPV, it must work for them. Low level boxing, obscure international soccer, and other sports are on PPV at times - its a niche market but it must be worthwhile for them to do it. As long as the costs are low it can be profitable. Even if WEC gets 10,000 PPV buys it seems horrible but maybe that is still more than the money they make by having it on VS.

Pride was on PPV and they were not getting more than 50k buys per event at equal pricing to UFC. MMA has grown a bit over the last 3 years and they could price the event half as much as UFC. It could easily get 50k buys at 25 bucks a pop. That might be a good payday for them.
