I can't imagine they'd run Arco... but maybe they would. I'd prefer a more intimate setting though. Regardless, Faber will be over like rover in Sac, and he was at Stacked and got a nice little reaction. I'm definitely there though, Faber vs. Pulver? Yes please.

I am thoroughly looking forward to the Pulver vs. Faber fight. I have watched many of Faber's "best" fights and the guy looks somewhat sloppy to me. He missed kicks and falls a lot of the time and I think with Pulver's experience he will jump right in there and put this guy to sleep. I hear lots of people talking about how dominant Faber is and wondering why he isn't in the UFC. Well imo there are two reasons he hasn't moved onto bigger and better things. One being the fact that he is a small guy and if he gained weight to move to a higher class I don't think he would continue to be competitve. The second reason is I don't think he would stand a chance in the UFC even at his current weight. Like Dana stated before, there is a reason these guys don't fight in the UFC, they aren't good enough. If you look at a brief history of the few fighters who were given an opportunity in the UFC you will see they all competed poorly and were not given a contract. I think Pulver's decision (it was his decision too) to move down to the WEC for the lighter weight classes was a good move because naturally he is a smaller guy and to be competitive it is a great opportunity for him to fight at his most comfortable weight.

Nice, nice. Faber/Pulver. I'm still on the fence on who to go in that one. Need to do more research. Marshall/Stann should be good too. MMAMania.com also reported that Filho/Sonnen II might take place at this event. I suspect Alessio will get his rematch with Condit should he beat Larson but don't know if it'll work the same way should Larson win. Anyway, it seems like the WEC are gonna be having less shows in Vegas now. (And it's not that I hate Vegas :)

Huge rumor just coming out about another fight that could be added: WEC Middleweight Champion Paulo Filho vs. Chael Sonnen in a rematch from December. Also might be Filho's last fight at Middleweight. It's not definite yet and no date's set, but the Brazillian TATAME website says Sonnen asked for a rematch and Filho's side accepted, and "this will be Paulo's last fight at 84 category." (185).

If this holds up then WEC is going to have a streak of really hot cards going between 31, 32, & 33.

Faber will win but I am pulling for Pulver. I don't really like either fighter but there is something about Faber that makes me hate him and wish for his imminent demise.

That's what I was thinking... I love that place, a bit old, but the seating is great in there.

There's been some major changes to the event, according to MMAWeekly:
The Urijah Faber-Jens Pulver fight rumored for this event is off. No reason given except it's more likely to happen this summer.

The event was to be in Sacramento, but has now been moved back to Vegas (Hard Rock Casino & Hotel).

The Paulo Filho-Chael Sonnen WEC Middleweight TItle rematch is now confirmed and will be the main event. Also confirmed for the card:
WEC Light Heavyweight Champion Doug Marshall vs. Brian Stann for the title (co-main event)
John Alessio vs. Brock Larson. Winner likely gets a WEC Welterweight Title shot.
Kenji Osawa (Shooto-WEC debut) vs. Chris Manuel
Marcus Hicks vs. Ed Ratcliff
Nissen Osterneck vs. Bryan Baker

Not getting Faber-Pulver yet hurts a little but this still sounds like a great card with 2 more title fights and the Filho-Sonnen rematch.

Hopefully they'll still be saving Faber/Pulver for a Sacramento show... definitely looks like another solid show though.

Looking forward this card, even without Faber-v-Pulver. Marshall-v-Stann is one of my "most anticipated matches of '08."

2 more fights have been added to the card according to MMAWeekly, for a total of 8 (Only the title fights have been confirmed by WEC): Ian McCall vs. Jeff Bedard and Dave Terrel vs. Ryan Stonitch. I can see Stonitch getting some serious underdog attention, he has a perfect 8-0 MMA record and has some quick KO/submission wins despite not having fought anyone with name recognition outside of Japan.

Thanks for that info DCRage.
This is going to be a great card. I can't wait.

I can't wait for the Marcus Hicks/Ed Ratcliff fight.
Marcus will be the next big thing . The entire card is awsome.

MMAWeekly now lists 9 fights for the card, the most recent of which is Tim McKenzie vs. Steven Cantwell. Cantwell is 1-1 in WEC, McKenzie is also 1-1 in WEC with his most high-profile fights being a win over Doug Marshall and losses to Chael Sonnen (in 13 seconds by submission) and Akihiro Gono. McKenzie also, as evident by his Sherdog profile picture, has one of the coolest hairdos in perhaps all MMA, even more so than Chris Leben & Jonathan Goulet's.

one way or another i think Filho will get his first loss here, sonnen's got his number i think. as for anything else... i just wanna see brian stann knock out a few more of the rhino's teeth, he's like a tattooed hillbilly and he's not nearly as good as Stann.

Might change my pick as the time gets closer, but as of right now I do have Sonnen winning. He exposed Filho in the last fight and all the stuff in the media recently about the fight being moved around and Filho's mental issues gives Sonnen that extra momentum on top of knowing how to beat him.
cspecial
3/10/08 1:15:27PM
i have to wonder though if that's not some PR bullshit just b/c they know that sonnen could kick his ass. ya know? like an excuse for him to lose the belt and catch his first loss. lol. "well i had mental issues, that's why sonnen beat my eyeballs outa my head" HAHAHAHA
