Vitor Belfort, who about a year ago, earned his Karate Blue Belt from Vinicio Antony, believes that his Shotokan Karate skills will play a huge part on his UFC 126 title bout against Anderson Silva. Joining his camp is Jayme Sandall, the South American Karate champ, who is one of the top Shotokan practitioners in the world.LINK
He should have brought in Kalib Starnes so he could practice chasing Silva around.
see him Jackie Chan his ass
Does anyone else think this is a bad idea? If Vitor gets confident enough with his karate, he may choose to use those elements moreso than his aggressive boxing style. If he does this, he will get KOed, because Vitor simply wont be able to last with Silva.
EDIT: Errr meant Silva
This is good, because he will be able to work fast counters against Silvas onslaught. However, Anderson Silva is very good friends with a shotokan guy. That being Lyoto Machida.
Shotokan Karate skills will play a huge part on his UFC 126 title bout against Anderson Silva......that role being if he tries to use them he will get ko'ed. Stick to what got you there.
This match is technically, very hard too call, we've seen Anderson Silva had issues when Sonnen ran at him and caught him before he could gage the distance. If Vitor comes out like a raged pumped up Kid Belfort like in the SEG UFC he could clip him and put Anderson in severe trouble, whether he could then finish it up and maintain a gas tank just incase he can't finish him, i won't know
This will be a tough fight for Anderson, and personally, i doubt Karate will be the difference in this fight.
