UWC5 - Man 'O' War Saturday 21 February - Full Card (Streaming Live On Sherdog)

I know it's on at the same time as UFC 95, but it's still worth having on your PC screen at the same time imo. Should be an entertaining night of fights.



Washington D.C.-based mixed martial arts promotion Ultimate Warrior Challenge (UWC) will pull the trigger on its fifth offering dubbed, “Man ‘O’ War,” at the George Mason University Patriot Center Arena in Fairfax, Va., this Saturday night (Feb. 21).

Headlining the event will be former two-time WEC bantamweight champion Chase “The Rage” Beebe taking on top ranked UWC fighter Mike “The Hulk” Easton for the vacant UWC 135-pound title. Beebe will be cornered by Marc Fiore, Robbie Lawler and Matt Hughes from Hughes’ HIT Squad, while Easton’s side will comprise well respected Brazilian jiu-jitsu trainer Lloyd Irvin and UFC light heavyweight Brandon Vera.

Mike Easton vs. Chase Beebe in Peril

Bloody Elbow can exclusively confirm that Saturday night's UWC main event between former WEC bantamweight champion and Mike Easton may be off.

According to UWC officials, Beebe informed his trainers and management yesterday, February 18th, that he was nursing a knee injury which was preventing him from training and that he'd likely not make the 135lbs requirement for tomorrow's fight. Trainer Marc Fiore and manager Monte Cox asked Easton's camp if they'd be willing to allow Beebe to fight without making the contractual weight, say officials. UWC officials say it was decided Beebe would only be spotted an additional one pound given the length of time the fighters were given to prepare for their contest.

There’s just one problem … and it’s kind of a big.

Former WEC bantamweight champion Chase Beebe — who was scheduled to headline the show opposite Mike Easton — did not make the trip into town. He claims that a knee injury forced him out of the bout at the last minute and he could not make the 135-pound division limit.

Here’s a snip from UWC CEO Marcello Foran:

“We are extremely disappointed that Chase failed to show up today to compete at MAN ‘O’ WAR and equally frustrated by the way this entire situation has played out. We were aware that he was having troubling cutting weight earlier this week, but never received any official medical documentation about the severity or extent of an injury that would force him to pull out of the show which is required in his contract.”

There’s no word yet on whether or not Beebe will be recovered in time to participate in the opening round of the DREAM 2009 Featherweight Grand Prix Tournament, which is scheduled to take place at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, in about two weeks.

In the meantime, he has been replaced by H.I.T. (Hughes Intensive Training) Squad’s Justin Robbins for the UWC main event against Easton.
