Very dumb move. Now that TUF has gotten some solid ratings and has a season worth looking forward to, they are moving to a new day and a channel with what I imagine will have significantly less reach.....

i think this is a Fox decision, not UFC's. Dana looked like he was delivering a eulogy when he announced that.

This is gonna hurt the brand in my opinion. I love UFC but Dana and the boys have created a beast that is too big for their managerial talent level.

Look at NBC Sports, it has existed for 10 years or so with 3 different names and still gets no ratings. Fox Sports 1 will be underground for years. Fox will ask for money from the cable providers, they'll say no and half of us won't even get that channel.

Bellator is cool and all but when their HW tourney of regional tough guys gets much bigger ratings than a top 10 UFC fight (which will happen), it's gonna keep the sport more underground.

also, it's funny how the UFC sold their souls to get 4-5 shows on network tv per year and a pseudo-UFC channel (FUEL) but in the big picture the move has hurt the visibilty of the brand on a day to day basis.

The UFC hasn't even stepped up and delivered the A+ card on Fox that would raise the high water mark and create a big buzz. Instead they took a few B-tier PPV cards and turned them into free Fox shows just to draw a few million viewers.

Spike was the perfect "goldilocks" home for UFC.....FUEL and Fox Sports 1 are just too underground and the main Fox Network is way too big for UFC to really matter for them on a few Saturday nights.

Like I said, Dana and the Fertitas were perfect (and a little lucky) in building it from nothing but once you are walking into meetings with the top tv execs in the world, you need to have more business smarts than the UFC brass has. I think the UFC doesn't really know what they are doing anymore.

Maybe a stupid question, but is FUEL becoming Fox Sports 1? Or is this going to be a whole seperate channel? Then they'll have FOX, FX, FUEL and FS1?

FUEL will become FS1. Expect content changes, likely meaning no more motocross or other "extreme" sports. Just my guess. I could have sworn it was reported Speed was going to merge with FS1.... damn there are so many Fox Sports channels

That's the point of FS1...there will only be ONE Fox sports channel (supposedly).

It's confusing but should pay off. The UFC/FOX are thinking long-term, not short.
