Roy Nelson (17-7 MMA, 4-3 UFC) admits he's disappointed that he won't be facing his opposing "The Ultimate Fighter 16" coach at the show's live finale.

Then again, he also says he's not surprised in the least that Shane Carwin withdrew from the fight.

Considering this is actually the second time a proposed Carwin fight didn't come to fruition, Nelson said he's not exactly sold on trying for a third time. Besides, he's got Blackzilian Matt Mitrione (5-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) in his sights right now – even if he's not sure what a Blackzilian actually is.

i think this fight will be pretty close. i am more excited about roy fighting meathead than carwin.

I feel the same actually on TUF i started really not respecting him just because of his lazy approach but Dana should of thought of that when he signed Roy on....

Roy just always has done his own thing and seriosuly I dont think training is one of them...

I think it's it's hilarious that he's got that (relatively) lazy approach - but I too think he was an odd/bad choice for a coach on TUF. But there too, it makes me laugh that Dana has such a hard time with it. Duh.

I'm with your line of thinking Budge, except when he fights, I have a hard time cheering against him. I can't help but cheer for an out of shape underdog, especially one that takes the punishment Roy does and keeps going. I'm a fan of him in the cage, but outside of it I'm just not anymore.
