if bj beats jens at fight night he will be positioned for a shot at shrek. maybe im a bj fan but i dont think i am i just think the guy is damn good. his losses to st. pierre and matt hughes are due to conditioning in my opinion. and that shouldnt be as much a problem at 155? im calling bj tops at 155. agree or disagree?

I think he'd one more win, if BJ wins he should face Joe Daddy for a title shot. Lots of exciting matches waiting for Penn at 155.

I think that fight would have the making of a good ground war, but with Penn's TD defense and most importantly vastly superior striking game, I don't think the fight would end well for Joe

Can't say I disagree with you there, BJ is a brilliant fighter.

Lack of conditioning is no excuse to lose fights...That said you could argue that bj would deserve a shot at sherk because of the name, and past acomplishments....Do not by any means assume he will walk all over every one in 155. Immediately upon dropping he is a threat to the title, but your not the champ till you get in and beat the champ.

Lack of the UFC having another really built up contender at 155 lined up behinds hermes also makes sense for bj to get the next shot assuming he beats pulver...i mean who else have the built up for that, perhaps joe stevenson?

BJ is gonna get the 155 belt, and hopefully, trains hard to get welterweight..

I hope he can get the Lightweight belt, but I just dont wanna see him take on Sherk, well I do but I wouldnt be able to pick on that, like my 2 favorites in the LW Division...

I think BJ would clean house at 155. I'm not going to say that BJ gassed in the Hughes fight because you dont go from whippin Matt Hughes ass one round then come out and not be able to do anything. I think he could be the top fighter at 155 and 170 and hold both belts but I would much rather see him at 155 because 170 is pretty stacked as is, and there are many exciting opportunities for BJ at 155.

BJ Penn is worst case scenario for Joe Steveson imo, no way he can sub him and BJ is better at every other aspect. Also has anyone noticed that if Joe can't get the sub in the first round he starts to fade later in the fight? Maybe its just me..but thats why im picking Kurt Pellegrino.

I agree about BJ being a worst case scenario for Joe. However, Pellegrino only wins his fights via sub. Joe daddy hasn't been submitted in over 7 years. Pellegrino will not beat Joe.

BJ is probably the worst matchup for joe, but joe will win his next fight he is on a different level.

I don't think he will sub Joe either..I do think he can decision him though.

unless bj losses hes definately going to be #1 at 155 in my book. i dont see anyone at 155 being able to take him out. not to say that hes unbeatable but there doesnt seem to be too many fighters at lw in the ufc that can pose a real threat to penn.

He has all the tools to tear it up at 155 but everything I've heard from him suggests he intends to go back to 170 after this bout. That said, if he doesn't just retire after another run at WW I could see him being a force at LW again, and very possibly taking the belt.

i just listened to an interview with bj on sherdog and he said he doesnt know if his next fight will be at lw or ww. he said he quit drinking and that has been the major difference in his conditioning. he said he was planning on living clean. he said if he does go up to ww he will be bringing muscle not fat
i also heard he had no problem making weight at 155 that he was 158 4 days before the fight..
i believe he would beat sean

bj needs to fight on of the top contenders in the LW divishon like Roger Huerta
or Joe Stevenson because they r both right there and to just give bj a tittle shot like that is messed up because pulver was comeing of a getting his ass kicked by j-low and penn was comming off of 2 loses so if u were going to give bj a shot u mitght as well give j-low a shot cuz he kod pulver its just stupid i want to see bj fight a to LW contender like Joe Stevenson then if he beats him give him the shot at the tittle

I couldn't disagree more. Did Randy have to defeat anyone at HW before getting a title shot? Just like Randy, BJ has never fought on a smaller stage. He has never fought anything but top fighters. He is 8-3-1 in the UFC. He has wins over the 1st UFC LW champ, the current UFC WW champ, the former and arguably the greatest champ in UFC history in Matt Hughes, the Pride LW champ, and the legendary Renzo Gracie. When Joe Daddy has a resume like that he can then complain about BJ getting a shot before him.

bj & sherk......oooo sounds like a war,....one i hope we all get to see.

i hope bj stays @ 55 long enough to get the belt and the start moving his way up,....no one has a resume like BJ ....its untouchable. not to mention, hes an easy guy to like. hes not an a$$ho like sum other previous penn victims...hmmhmmmhugheshmmm. ! never the less i hope that they dont wait forever for him to fight again........

After watching Huerta in his last fight, Bj would take him easily. BJ deserves a title shot just the same as Sherk did when he fought his first ever 155 fight for the UFC title. It's about the best fighting the best, not who's had the most fights consecutively.

I agree. When BJ said he talked to Randy Couture ,and had his eyes opened I was stoked. He said he used to tell everyone to " train hard, and party harder" . Now he said he realized he can only do one. A focused, dedicated BJ is a definitely worthy contender at 155 or 170 in my book.
