In recent interview with "The Maniac" from NBC sports Tim did some crying about how the UFC treats him. http://www.nbcsports.com/ufc/index.html

I think Tim is just wrong. The UFC has treated many of thier fighters quite poorly, but Big Tim isn't one of them. Lets go over the facts. Tim tests positive for steroids after his title defense against Gan McGee. The UFC keeps the matter discreet, and they do strip him of his belt, but give him the first shot to win it back against Frank Mir. Tim should ask Josh Barnett if he thinks that is fair since not only did Josh never fight for the title after he tested positive for steroids, but he is also unsure if the UFC will stand by his contract with Pride. Tim of course loses that match, but Mir is unable to defend the belt. Tim then defeats Wes Simms in another organazation, and the UFC give him the first shot at the interim belt against AA. Of course Tim loses, but the UFC gives him another shot at the belt after only two wins in the UFC.

Now he is complaining that they aren't giving him a title shot instantly against Randy. At the same time Tim is stating he needed back surgery from injuries before his last title bout, but already wants a rematch. You would think he would be happy the UFC is giving him some time to heal before he gets another title shot.

its really the fans and not the ufc that have given him little respect, and the ufc has to cater to their fans wishes. had tim fought in his title defenses like he did on his road to the title he would be loved by the fans, but like countless others have said-he fought to not lose and not to win, so people dislike him. the guy is a talented fighter, its too bad he doesnt always show that he has a fire in his belly when he is performing. im hoping that after losing to randy he rethinks the manner in which he fights because he has beaten some really good fighters and with his head on straight could hang in there with any top HW. im not a fan of his but id like to see what he can do with a killer instinct against some top talent like aleks, werdum, barnett, and even fedor, nog, and CC. the excuses have to stop, though, and he needs to let his fighting do the talking.

Good points. I've never been interested enough in tim to look into it that deeply.

You are completely right. Big Tim has had more shots than anyone I know. Besides that, he is getting treated no differently than any other former champ. Rich Franklin, Matt Hughes, and GSP didn't get an immediate rematch. Tim must think that he should get special treatment.

To be fair, Tim admitted and apoligized for using roids. Josh admitted to nothing. TIm served his suspension. Josh left for Japan. Not defending TIm at all, just explaining why one is till fighting for the UFC and the other isn't.

You also got to remember, the UFC needed TIm back then. Their HW division was very shallow at the time. Tim had been one of the only bright lights at the time

He thinks he earned a rematch because lasted with Couture? That's funny, because I've seen matches that end in KO or subs that were a lot less humiliating for the losers than what happened in that fight. Couture had a clinic going on, he had Tim afraid to throw his jab. In fact, I would have a lot more respect for Tim had he got caught in a sub or KO trying to mount any type of comeback in that fight.

The only rematch that should earn him is with Mir... he has to work his way to Couture.

It is stupid for Tim to ask for an instant rematch. The only instant rematches in Titles fights have been, Rizzo/Randy due to a split descion, and AA/Tim 3 mainly because there was no one else that deserved a title shot.

Tim needs to look at the many great champs who didn't get a rematch. Matt Hughes held the title for years, and had to prove him self against Lyttle. Tito had 5 defenses, and didn't get to fight for the belt again till 3 years after he lost it. Pat Miletich also had 5 defenses, and never got another shot dispite defeating Shonie Carter in his next fight.

The ufc knows what the fans want, and now with such a deep HW division Tim has lost a lot of popularity. I for one don't want to see him fight for the championship, not only because he doesn't yet deserve it, but because there are so many more exciting possibilities for a championship now

The most striking thing about that video to me was the fact that Tim gets on Serra's case for talking smack (by talking smack).

The one thing I never liked about Tim (besides his recent terrible fights) was the fact that he talked constant smack about EVERYONE - people in other weightclasses even. He did this as the champ. Then he calls Serra a "puke" and says champs shouldn't talk smack? Please.

And he wonders why people don't like him.

man it just seems that sylvia continuously digs a bigger hole for himself everytime he opens his mouth, or fights.

The UFC should do the fans a favor and cut Tim Sylvia from the roster.
