So I've been ebaying some stuff laying around my house for a few quick bucks, and ran across a couple PS1 games I had. I had thrown out a good pile of them a year ago, as Gamestop wont take them and I figured they were basically worthless at this point, but I'd set aside three that I'd really liked back in the day. Being as I hadn't actually played them since I last threw out the games, I figured I'd put them on ebay and see if I couldn't get $5 for them.

So, I type in one of the games (Suikoden II) and see what the going rate is. Low and behold, $115. I about shit my pants. People are actually paying this for a PS1 game?!?! The other two games go for around $50 apiece. Despite my better judgement, I started looking up the games I had that I tossed in the dumpster and just about made myself sick. I probably threw away $600 worth of PS1 games.

THEN I started looking up super nintendo, as I'd give them away to a friend at least 15 years ago. Some of the titles I had are going for $200 each!!!!!

So, share your stories about things you've gotten rid of, one way or another, and realized it was a bad move.

, makes me queezy knowing I tossed all my PS1 games. I have an original Nintendo with Tysons Punch Out and Zelda I might sell. My wife last year took my old PS2 slim with a bunch of games and sold them all for $10 at a yard sale without my knowledge

I myself don't waste time with yard sales and such. I'm not a pack rat, I had being disorganized or cluttered. I'm always throwing things away im not using presently or going to use in the near future. My wife is opposite, she was a big pack rat when I first met her but slowly is starting to see my side, as she just had a yard sale this summer. Took her 2 days to tag everything, an hour to bring it all out and set it up. She waited 45 min before she called it quits and said never again.

An old sword I thought was a fake....it wasn't. It ended up selling for 12K. I was really pissed for a while but in hindsight I am glad it happened that way as at the time I was into shit that wasn't good for you if you had the money to spend on it.

Damn. I might have to check at my parents house to see if we have any sega genesis, Nintendo, or PS1 games laying around.

Off hand, I can't think of anything I've given away, that turned out to be worth some money. I sold my old car to my brother for like $1500 less than I could have if I sold it to a stranger, but that really doesn't count.

It seems to be mostly RPGs and cult classics. I actually drove to a local pawn shop after I found out I'd thrown my fortune away, but they had nothing of value.

Seriously, look at this shit.

Earthbound

Two days left and it's already up to $125. I distinctly remember throwing this game in the trash a good 10 or so years ago. Yet I hung onto my stupid Marvel trading cards from the late 80s/early 90s that currently sell for $10 for the whole damn set! I can't win here!

I have them as well, I keep holding out thinking somehow they will become super valuable, but last I checked my decent collection of marvel metals were probably not going to fetch more than 20$ or so.
The closest issue I had was with a game store that took me when I was 18 because I wanted Marvel vs Capcom. They looked up the alleged value on some site that I had never heard of, then told me my games totalled 5$ if I bought Marvel vs Capcom from them. It was used and I didn't look at the disc because I assumed they wouldn't cheat me, but even that day I had a hell of a time running the disc and after a few years it would no longer reach the title screen because of how badly it was scratched when I first bought it. I don't let those game stores pull one over on me anymore.

I had an extensive collection of Starting Line Up figures. For those that dont know what the are, they are pretty much standing figures of professional athletes. I had about 50 of them between NBA, NFL and MLB. I only kept two of them (two figures my mom repainted as me in high school basketball and football. Its cheesy but they are both pretty cool and well done.) I made a good chunk of money on them. I sold the collection to a card/comic shop. I also have a old collection of star wars figures I am looking to sell from when i was a kit. Im sure that will be a good sell as well.

About 6 years ago I sold off my collection of N64 games to some guy.

200 bucks for 15 games.

Thought I came out pretty good there

However it was hard to part with Resident Evil 2. That bitch is hard to find for the N64

Whoa whoa whoa guys.

This thread isn't called "What kind of pretty good deals have you made?" or "Tell me about something you gave away that actually DID turn out to be a piece of crap." This is a thread for commisterating dammit.

I want to hear about you throwing your A-Rod rookie card into the sewer, or giving your collection of priceless vinyl away while cleaning, or how you sold an autographed Peyton Manning college football to someone for $9.

Like dumbasses, my buddy and I decided to play catch with my baseball that was signed by the entire 1990 Cincinnati Reds championship team. My buddy missed catching it and it ended up rolling into the drainage pipe beneath the neighbor's driveway.

my father got some really old coins when he was kid, they are from the 1800's. he got like 12 or 15 of them. he was 10 years old. he spent half of them on candy at a local store, i guess the clerk thought he could get something cool from some stupid kids. the coins he has left are work the 1000's of dollars.
