I saw this for the Affliction card and was a bit puzzled.

I figured this fight to be a lot closer... Vitor hasn't been active for a while, and although Terry had a couple close losses to Leben and Eastman, he's still a powerful guy that can knock anyone out.

Do people really think Martin is washed up or something? Or are the old school Vitor fans driving this?

On paper Belfort seems the better fighter, and personally i'm not sure Martin's fully recovered from his last fight (beat Daiju Takase by DQ due to repeated low blows). I have Belfort winning.

I think Terry Martin gets too much credit for his win over Jorge and slam over Ivan. Other than those two fights, his UFC record is not that great. Added to which, Ivan and Jorge were not top fighters at the time either.

People always say that Vitor is not the same fighter, blah, blah, blah. However, he is still dangerous and has done well. Most of his losses are to top guys and most of them are decisions.

agree with Rush, + it seems hes gotten his shit together, im pretty sure i saw him training at Xtreme couture, but i dont know if he is training there full time.hopefully he'll give a good performance come july 19th, and spark some interest in the other big companies.

Vitor is training at Xtreme Couture as well.....for now. But the real reason I think Vitor will win, is because it seems the lighter he fights, the deadlier he is. Also Martin is a small MW, whereas Vitor will be a huge one.

I actually have Martin in this one too. I rarely pick official underdogs, but i think i've gotten one or two right before. I think people are just remembering the old Vitor when in reality we have no idea what to expect.

Im just saying, when Vitor defeated Wanderlei, they were both around 199.

Yeah, and also this fight is taking place at 185. Vitor will be quicker at this weight and maybe will see a revamped Vitor. Vitor even said himself he likes that this fight is taking place at 185, hope he pulls off an impressive win!

To be washed up you had to be something in the first place. Martin has never and will never be a contender in any division.

he seems prone to the ground as well, but i dont think terry has an advantage anywhere except maybe the clinch

I picked Terry Martin to win, but that's just to get the underdog bonus (and i'm not really serious in secondary league). Still, I wouldn't pick him if he didn't have a legitimate chance to win. Martin has decent hand skills and demonstrates actual skill not just hard swinging (Houston, Leben) and I think Vitor will be frustrated.

He got KO'd by Leben. That is bad.

He lost to Marvin Eastman. That is even worse.

I refuse to pick terry martin, he is one of the most inconsistent fighters out there.

He shows flashes of brilliance... then loses to a bum. He Wins 2 3/4 rounds from a legit contender, and then blows it by being an cocky showboat. He gets matched up with a down on his luck fighter who was never that good - and he loses terribly in the most boring match-up ever.

Terry Martin.. you never know what to expect. hes a riskier pick than Jon Goulet.

I admit, I kind of bought into the hype after he quickly defeated 2 solid fighters - Jorge and Ivan. However, after watching the Leben fight I noticed a lot of weakness (never watched the Eastman fight, heard it was so boring). His ground game is really lacking and he has bad cardio. I really haven't watched Belfort fight in ages so I have no idea what kind of fighter he is anymore.

I think those 2 quick victories at middleweight got into Terry's head and the dude started to neglect his training. We'll have to see I guess.

Now that I think about it Martin is the Houston Alexander of the middleweights.

Its not that Martin has no skills or is washed up, I think that most people (including myself) just think Belfort is better.

i know Belfort can be a force but hes been up and down lately in his career, so i dont know what to expect from him. What i do know is that Terry Martin is a solid B level fighter and taken lightly can KO Belfort. My biggest concern is can Martins wrestling keep Belfort from taking him down and submitting him? So im taking martin in this one but in no way is that a confident pick.
