Anyone excited about this starting up this weekend?

For those that don't know, some of the top six Super Middleweight boxers in the world are throwing down, round robin style, over the course of about a year. Everyone fighting is a stud and it should produce some awesome battles.

This Saturday is Dirrell vs. Froch and Abraham vs. Taylor.

Anyone have early predictions? I'm giving Kessler the edge in this thing based on the chin and power, although I think Abraham could steal this if he doesn't get into too many firefights. I love this because nearly everyone can defeat everyone else.

Props to you sir for bringing this up I heard Antonio Tarver talking about it last night on the radio and it really got me pumped I deff will be watching as long as they are all on Showtime

Im Picking Andre S.O.G. Ward

Ward is a great fighter, but unfortunetely he doesn't have the power to drop guys like Kessler, Froch or Abraham. That means he's in for the long haul and that won't be helpful in some cases. I think he has the best chance of taking out Taylor over everyone, but the heavy hands of the other four might be his undoing.

I found this

I think Ward is a pretty good fighter coming into this its about his time to take that final step to becoming the best I think his style is gonna help him win a UD over Kessler

I personally think Froch and Kessler are his two worst match-ups in this, but if he can put away Kessler or take a decision, that definitely says a lot about his chances. Can't wait!

I have always been a Jermain Taylor fan and I hope that he puts together a nice run to get the strap. If he can get that jab working he can beat anybody.

Is Froch's belt on the line each time he fights ?

Yes sir. Andre Dirrell is getting his shot this Saturday, so the belt has the potential to change hands several times in this next year.

I definitely have Kessler. I think he's gonna knock out all 5 all these guys. Maybe Abraham could hold on and that would be a pretty sick WAR BRAWL!!! I just think Kessler is that freakin good.

1st 2 fights so far thoughts- DAMN! Didnt want that too happen to JT. My heart goes out to him and his family. Brutal and devastating. Was hoping Taylor would come back strong and outbox Abraham but boy was I wrong. He definitely needs Dirrell or Ward if he loses next because he needs a boxer he can out box without the huge risk of getting KO'd. Needs a confidence booster and thats the only good way I can see it going for him if he can even stay in this. Abraham's beastly. Want to see him unify with Pavlik someday even though he probably lost all his belts getting in this tournament.

and

DIRRELL GOT ROBBED!!! I had it 117-111 Dirrell. Gave him most the close rounds and the 1st round was 10-10 in my book. Even the round where he got deducted a point I gave it to Dirrell. I marked down all the closes rounds and even by giving them to Froch the best score I can give Froch is a 113-114 loss.Terrible terrible decision. Sad for my boy Dirrell. Heart breaking but he definitely showed he's got mad potential and can definitely see him winning his next fight if he gets Ward or Taylor. Maybe hes good enough to outbox Abraham? Froch disapointed me, definitely don't think hes as good as all the UK makes him out to be. If everyone in this thing was at their 100% best with no excuse, all 5 of them can beat him. Taylor if he hung in for 10 more seconds won that fight, Dirrell outboxed him badly. Ward would outbox him, and Kessler & Abraham beat him down badly. He landed two good punches the whole fight. Terrible terrible call. Sucks the US is now 0-2 most likely 0-3 after Kessler gets his hands on Ward

Awesome start to this. The Abramham vs. Taylor fight was a great tactical battle that Taylor just wasn't ready for. I will say, stamina wise, he looked much better, but Abrahams glove defense is too solid, and that right was a murderous shot.

I had Dirrell ahead by one, even with the point deduction, but he really should have pulled the trigger more in the earlier rounds when it was clear he was so much faster than Froch. Froch was very smart to turn it into a brawl part way through, when it was clear he was being outboxed, and it paid off for him.

I predicted a 10th round KO for Abraham and a UD for Froch, so I was fairly close so far. I think Kessler KO's Ward in the 5th when they fight next month.

Next round has Abraham vs. Dirrell, Froch vs. Kessler for a unification bout, provided he doesn't lose to Ward, and Ward vs. Taylor.

Not a great start to the super 6 imo.
The main event was poor but some of the others where good. Froch deserved the win but only because he was pushing forward and landing more in the exchanges.
Kessler's got a pretty easy ride if the rest of the fights go like that!
The Kessler fight is the one I'm looking forward to the most as well.

I think the judges were right and Froch won the fight by my scorecard.

You can't fight the way Dirrell did and expect to win the title, especially on foreign soil!

Imo Froch did just enough and controlled the fight.

I though Froch lost, but a challenger just cant let the fight go to the judges without running the risk of loosing even if in actual fact he won every round. Glad to see Taylor get knocked out again, hes a little to cocky for my tastes.

Should be an interesting year. None of the fights will be totally clear cut.

I thought that Froch did enough to win that decision.

That used to be the case, but he's been dropped more times than I think is neccessary to humble the man. I'd like to see him get a win out there, and he might be able to put a beating on Ward if his gas tank holds out.

I think Ward has a decent shot at Kessler. I actually think it'll be competitive. I got Kessler edging out a decision. Should be a good fight. But I wouldn't be surprised if Ward stole a decision.

Kesslers going to absolutely kill Froch IMO. I gotta disagree with the guy that said Froch landed more in the exchanges. Dirrell definitely outlanded Froch easily and by alot. I only remember seeing Froch land 2 good punches. Dirrell hit him solid a few times but your right he should have been busier though but I was watching it on a british stream and they even said Dirrell won and outboxed him. But anyway Kesslers going to run right through Froch in under 7 or 8 IMO. JT has a great chance though to beat Ward since their both boxers but I think JT might be too mentally chance and Ward's got a bright future so I'll take Ward by late KO actually no suprise and I think Dirrell will actually outpoint Abraham but do alot more and clearly win the decision this time.

I think if JT doesn't continue, Paul Williams should jump in this since Pavlik pulled out again. I think he'd have a great shot at winning this thing.

I think Dirrell vs. Abraham will be a good one, although I think Abraham will take a decision there. His glove defense is second to none at this weight and I don't think Dirrell will be able to land much on him. I think he'll use movement to cut off Dirrell and land the better and more powerful exchanges.

Judging by your posts you seem to think the UK fighters are the worst of the bunch and are obviously your least favourites. Wonder why that is?

Nah I like Hatton. nd I liked Lewis. I just can't stand Calzaghe. He chose to make his career by fighting two of the greatest towards the end of theirs when he could have fought them in their prime. B-Hop & RJJ will always be > then Joe. The Froch comeback on Taylor was nice. And the Jean Pascal fight was one of the crazier most exciting fights I've ever seen. But I just think he lost to Dirrell and I sure as hell don't think he'll beat Kessler even though it'll be a slugfest for as long as it last. Froch will just be too sloppy for him.

But of course I am always gonna want my fellow countrymen to win.

WoooooooW!!!! Kessler got beat by Ward due to headbutts that is so f*cking wrong, first ward advances for a headbutt to kessler's left eye, perfectly knowing what he was doing (check the replays) and a few rounds later does the same exact thing but to kessler's right eye. I'm not a big boxing fan or anything but I am wondering why Kessler got the loss via 11th round TKO instead of Ward getting DQ'ed, am i missing something?

If it's deemed an unintentional clash of heads, they go to the scorecards after four rounds. Have to wait til tomorrow to watch it, but from what I heard, he was winning the fight handily and wouldn't really need the dirty tactics.

Ah well thanks for clarifying man, although you should really watch the fights and when exactly the headbutts occur, i meen i'll admit I don't really know what to look for as of if it was intended or not, but those headbutts IMO looked pretty planned out, you can see the guy's eyes pointing at exactly where he wanted to hit Kessler and he headbutts him twice, once over each eye, i meen I understand the whole unintentional thing but IMO there's a limit.
