There have undoubtedly been some famous and infamous rivalries in mixed martial arts history, but none may top the main event at UFC 148.
Anderson Silva is arguably the greatest mixed martial artist the sport has ever seen, but much like Muhammad Ali had Joe Frazier in boxing, he’s found his most heated rival in Chael Sonnen.
The two middleweights have become synonymous with one another ever since Sonnen first called the champion out when appearing on MMAWeekly Radio in January 2010 and the following two years have been nothing short of epic in terms of rivalries in MMA.
For most of the last two years, Sonnen went unopposed as he routinely bashed, poked and prodded at the UFC’s top middleweight. Even when Sonnen was defeated by Silva in their original fight at UFC 117, the fire wasn’t extinguished.
If anything the flames only burned hotter.

+1 and imo jones evans doesnt deserve a top 10 spot, I am just not convinced.

I think Couture said it best.. Silva won the fight, but Chael beat him senseless.. I'd be interested to see how this goes. The special thing about this rivalry is the guy who won had a terrible performance, and typically the loser knows what adjustments to make for the next time. BUT NOW.. Chael doesn't need a new game plan.. just better jits.. Silva is the one who has to get improve his take down defense and or wrestling. Personally a Silva loss makes the MW division much more interesting

I second BTT vs. Chute Boxe as definitely one of the best rivalries.

Unfortunately a lot of decisions in there, but the intensity/staredowns/trash talk were off the charts.
That was crazy when Anderson Silva went over to join up with the Noguieras. Traitor, ha ha!
