Hopefully Sherk's entrance will start out like "BJ Penn is a punk...BJ Penn is a punk...BJ Penn is a punk" and then he will rise up with his hands raised and everyone will cheer a la Ken Shamrock

I dont remember word for word, but it was something along the lines of "after the fight, i went to party with my friends.. after the fight, he went to the hospital".

Two words "eye poke"

For the most part I think BJ Penn is a bit of a punk. He grew up in a small community, in a rich family and the youngest of many brothers. He acts like a spoiled little brat. Read the brief notes on his life history (as a fighter) in his Book of Knowledge and he even admits that he really didn't have much direction in life before leaving Hilo.

However, that really has nothing to do with his skill and abilities as a fighter. I personally like BJ Penn. I think he's talented and funny. Heck, my wife is not a MMA fan and even she likes watching him fight (and talk outside the ring).

i think sherk will be to much for penn, idk but BJ is talkin a lot and says he will not fight him? scared idk

Won't fight roided up fighters. Give him a few matches to earn his way up showing he is clean, I'm sure the attitude would change. Sherk has nothing but stalling for BJ, BJ could finish it standing or on the ground (top or bottom). Where does that leave SS, nowhere.

eye poke my *** haha =P
look at his face after the third round, penn poked gsp's face with his fists ^^
I love gsp and penn equally, and for me, thats my fantasy rematch. A split decision is a split decision, i just saw it go the other way because of the damage penn did on his feet, and the way he used his rubber guard to neutralize gsp's gnp.

maybe he did go to the hospital to get his eye checked out or something, but you cant deny that after the fight, georges looked a lot worse for wear than penn did

SS:" I think BJ Penn is a punk. Who the hell is he? He's won one fight in a couple of years now and it's just whatever man. He wants to make all of these rules and regulations, but who the hell is he? I'm the champ in my eyes so I don't care if he fights me or not, there's a whole bunch of guys that could fight me right now. It's his loss, not mine. He needs me more than I need him."

I wholeheartedly disagree with you.

GSP was poked in the eye in Rd1 and did not even ask for a stoppage (which he deserved). Watch the fight again and watch the slow motion replay. After the eye poke George said that he didn't recover until round three and by then he got hit so many times that it affected his vision more.

I like both fighters too, but BJ has a habit of letting his fingers and/or thumb drag across the face after a punch.

All in all I think BJ wasn't prepared for that fight. IMO, the eye poke helped him get the SD, but without it, it would've been a UD for GSP IMO.

People who think sherk can beat penn ... are fans who dont do there research ... whos sherks biggest wins ? Keno flow ?Hemres Fancas ? Karo twice ? Nick Diaz ? tell me when i get there .... while pens wins Hughes (which he beat 3 out of 4 rounds they fought) Gomi Jens Pulver Din Thomas Serra ... the only guy he beat that is really good is kenflo while penn beat many more names ... lets be honnest ... penn stops hughes take down attempts ... he will stop sherks ... sherk is gona get desperate and eventually penn will take his back 2nd rounc Rear naked choke

Ok, so BJ has beaten Hughes... 4 years ago next month.
BJ lost to Hughes last year. Rib injury or not, he didn't go into the fight injured. The injury occured in the fight, and that obviously contributed to his loss, but it didn't contribute any more or less than a fighter who loses a fight by Dr. stoppage due to a cut. A win is a win, and a loss is a loss. Big deal if he won 3 out of 4 of the rounds, it only takes 1 round to win a fight anyway. I agree (and used to feel the same way), if Penn hadn't hurt his ribs, he probably would have won that fight... but that's not how it went. By the way, I think Sherk has better take-downs than Hughes.

Since you brought up his win over Jens, and appearantly we are considering fights over 2 years ago as being relevant... Jens beat BJ in 2002. You can't use the fact that BJ beat Hughes 4 years ago, and that he beat Jens recently without saying Jens beat BJ 6 years ago (next month).

As a matter of fact, the noteable wins you bring up about BJ in reference to this are:

Hughes: Already mentioned 4 years ago, Lost last fight
Gomi: over 4 years ago
Serra: won decision over 5 years ago
Thomas: won decision 6 1/2 years ago
Pulver: Lost 6 years ago, won last fight.

IMO none of these are relevant, except for the fact that he beat Pulver recently, and lost to Hughes recently. He has lost the last 2 of the 3 fights he has had in the UFC, and 3 of his 4 losses have come in the last 3 1/2 years.

You act like Sherk has made no accomplishments either... Ok, how can you not think the win over Hermes Franca was great? Hermes had just won 8 straight fights, all of which he finished. Then there is KenFlo... he may not have a bunch of professional fights under his belt, but you can't say this guy isn't a force. Every one of his wins have been because he has finished. The only 3 guys he has ever lost to were Fickett, Sanchez, and Sherk. So to say beating KenFlo is no accomplishment, basically shows that you are speaking pure opinion and just don't want to give Sherk any credit, or credit to any fighter Sherk has beaten. As far as Karo, and Nick... well this post has gotten long, but I doubt there would be many people on here that would agree with you in thinking that these guys are push-overs.

In either case, sorry to come down on your, but don't tell me that because I think Sherk can beat Penn that I need to do my research. Have you done yours?
