when it does happen will Serra just try to hold GSP through the whole fight like he did with the guy in TUF or will he just go down in 30 seconds?

although i like serra, he goes into round 1 then heads back to the locker room, easy fight for GSP

theres no chance serra could just hold GSP against the fence for more than a minute let alone 5 rounds. GSP is in a class above serra in wrestling and stand up plus matt hughes is arguebly the strongest guy in the 170lb division and he couldnt even get a good hold of GSP. So realisticly i dont see serra getting a hold of GSP nad controlling him, so i predict 1st round tko for GSP

I have not read any reports from Serra recently so I don't have much of a clue whether it would be GSP. But if I base the fights from the past Serra fights, well I guess it'll be GSP on my ticket.

I don't think that Matt Serra has much of a shot with the roll that GSP is on. Matt Hughes got dominated by George and I don't think that Matt Serra is in the same class as Hughes.

serra is not in the same class as hughes, he doesn't have the strengh, stand up, or skill . serra belongs at 155, even at that weight, he won't get by pen or sherk

I like Serra, he's a great guy and a pretty good MMA fighter....but GSP is going to lay him out in under 3 minutes.

Serra will end up going down in weight classes after this fight. He's going to end up just like Sherk.

GSP will win no doubt, i dont like either fighter so it matters little to me

Serra's only chance is to go for some crazy strategy and hope it works. It would be a huge risk but no better than to try to go toe to toe with GSP.

GSP has this one in round one.

personally dont think its going to happen. I dont think GSP even wants to fight him, and with good reason. NO WAY does serra deserve a title fight. I think thats why GSP aquired a knee injury weeks before the fight.

I'm going to go with my heart and say Serra by sub and i'm going to stick by it and then eat humble pie once he loses, but oh my science if Serra pulls it off, you guys will never hear the end of it.

Serra has been around a long time, and after seeing him as a person on TUF he is as likeable as anyone in MMA, but GSP is a load and I only see Serra having a chance if GSP's knee isn't fully healed otherwise should be a short fight

I like Serra bec of the skills he shows on the matt. Being a cheerful looking guy even while getting beaten up is one of those characteristics that just makes you want to watch and cheer for the guy.

GSP is to quick and to strong for Matt. I like MAtt, but GSP is step up from the competition that Serra is use to fighting. Matts a good dude. I just think he's in above his head for this one

fight starts

they circle for a (short) while

serra eats a few and moves in for the clinch

he tries pushing gsp against the cage, doesnt work

he grunts a lot, in his long island accent, trying to force one of his awkward takedowns

gsp throws serra to the mat and either

a) works him ala gsp-trigg or

b) stands up, and feeds him punches while keeping distance until serras face looks like hamburger meat and his corner throws in the towel

variable outcome - serra gets caught by a spinning backfist and his head explodes (its filled with lasagne) and everybody is happy.

gsp is such a good fighter he only needs one leg to fight a guy like serra. dont get me wrong serra is a good fighter but he is nowhere near gsp level, id personally like to see him fight hughes.

I doubt serra even wants to fight GSP. Serra needed the exposer of TUF to get his name back in the game. fighting GSP is just the price of getting known among the new fans.

of course serra wants to fight GSP. its a huge opportunity for him, and hes a gamer. does he want to stay at 170? probably not, but a title shot, big payday, huge exposure as the main event on a card, and a really good chance to see where he really is against a top level fighter.......yup, he wants to fight GSP.

Serra doesn't have much of a chance, he's going to get KO'd in the first round. It's an easy win for GSP.

Good post; these are pretty much the same reasons Eddie Sanchez is fighting CC. Most any fighter would love to have an opportunity like that. Nothing to lose at all, and if they do pull off a win imagine all their new fans lol. Even if they lose but put up a good fight they'll gain respect from the fans for hanging with a world class fighter.

Yeah, I wouldn't apply the same logic to Sanchez/CC though... I mean, GSP won't literally murder Serra, whereas Mirko... who knows...

First death in the UFC -- Eddie Sanchez?

GSP by whatever he wants whenever he wants

serra couldnt take down lytle

Hughes and Sherk couldnt take down GSP

Serra will never take down GSP

GSp in the 1rst. It sucks because Serra is a very good fighter, but this is obviously out of his league, and especially his weight class. They should have lethim have his title shot at 155.

If he puts in a good performance and loses i'd expect to see Serra at 155lbs once again.
