Over at a regular website that I frequent, there is a series of articles chronicling research regarding support on Sherk's nandrolone positive test, an article also looking at the opposite view and research supporting his innocence, and also an article outlining the quotes that Armando Garcia, the CSAC Executive Director, stated during a Sherdog interview.

Before reading this, the author states his opinion in the first post, but for sake of analytical argument, presents both sides and allows us to all come up with our own conclusion regarding the situation. The opposite view presents research that COULD support innocence, but toward the end of the article, suggests problems with some of the research that supports innocence. Very good series of articles:

Sean Sherk, I told ya so.

Opposing View: Could Sherk be innocent?

Who cares, it's all over now, time to move on....

Focus on the next guy who will get caught, cause I am sure it will happen again....

Sherk's rep might be tarnished but that's not going to stop him from fighting and kickin peoples ass...and that includeds BJ and or Stevenson....

good articles, but it still bugs me. T

he first article said something about statistical research that they did on the nagano olympics, and how most didnt test over .1 ng or something? And because olympians compete at such a high level, that they of all people would be testing the highest. You have gotta be kidding me. How long ago was the nagano olympics? 10 years? Estimates have been made that our rate of overall research and technical developments are on an exponential curve with the advancements made this year are 20 times that of the ones made in the previous year, and 20 times made the year before that. Which means that the supplements are somewhere around 20^10 more developed now then they were during the 1998 olympics. This is obviously a bit of an exaggeration, but point made.

Not only that, but find me an athlete that trains harder than an mma fighter. Fighters who are in the kinda shape that sherk is in are easily in an overall better shape than any olympic athlete. Find me another type of athlete who has the strength and cardio of a gsp, sherk, hughes, stevenson, ortiz, or find me a 44 year old in better shape than couture. Bottom line, you cant compare the natural nandrolone levels from an olympic athlete 10 years ago to a ufc athlete now.

Did he test positive? definately. Was it a false positive? Unlikely. Did he administer the steroids to himself? unlikely. What have we learned from this? check all your supplements before competing, and the CSAC needs to standardize their process, make it far more transparent, upgrade the people making the decisions, and more research needs to be done on what levels of these steroids the human body is capable of producing.. and not just an average joe, but a super athelte on every supplement that they can get their hands on, aka all the elite ufc fighters.
