Former UFC fighter Scott Smith (11-4 MMA, 1-3 UFC) has signed a long-term contract with Elite Xtreme Combat, the organization’s parent announced on Wednesday.

ProElite Inc. also announced that Smith will make his EliteXC debut in February.

Smith is perhaps best known for his stint on a special “comeback” season of “The Ultimate Fighter” and a subsequent knockout at the show’s live finale — which appeared to play a major part in EliteXC’s offer to the fighter.

Why the hell would the UFC let him go?????????????

What is wrong with them? Do they not realise that division and seriouslt weak and needs all the talent it can get!

Smith is a very good striker with good wrestling, ok he has a BJJ weakness but he belongs in the current UFC MW division imho! He only lost to Terrell/Cote/Herman ffs! all top guys!
