Bob Sapp will headline Strikeforce's Feb. 23 show at the Tacoma Dome in Washington state, the promotion announced Monday.

The 6-foot-4, 375-pound Sapp last fought in mixed martial arts in November 2005, when he knocked out Kim Jong Wang. In less than four years of competition, "The Beast" has gained international notoriety. He has been particularly popular in Japan, where he compiled most of his 8-2-1 record in MMA.

Why not have him fight Kimbo in Elite XC?

That would be funny. The first fight was hilarious he looked like a drunken fool when he was staggering back to his corner. It's awesome that he's fighting again though I hope he wins.

I don't think Kimbo is big enough to fight at super heavy. I wonder if they would be willing to feed him to Antonio Silva or maybe Ricco? Probably would if this was a one fight contract, but if they're trying to build him into a star maybe a softer touch like Ron Waterman or Andre Roberts would make sense.

Or the ultimate guilty-pleasure match--throw Butterbean in there.

I didn't know Andre Roberts was still fighting. That would be a funny fight Sapp would take it.

But the Butterbean match would be awesome too.

Yeah LMAO at the random Andre Roberts suggestion, he hasnt fought for years and would be a easy win for Sapp

They do try and keep the SF guys seperate from the Elite XC guys so dunno if they would have him fight Silva who has fought twice there now

For sure a Bob Sapp vs. Kimbo fight would be AMAZING....

But I don't think Sapp does so well with heavy handed strikers...

Remember Sapp sitting down and waving off his fight w/ Cro Cop after a single punch to the jaw....

I don't know if Sapp could deal with Kimbo's raw power....

However Sapp has been know to win by submission
(armbar - Takayama and Guillotine choke - Stefan Gamlin)

I would LOVE to see that fight pulled together if EliteXC and Strikeforce could make it happen...

He broke his orbital bone with that punch.

And I don't know Sapp's record in K1.

"The Beast" is back and Im glad to see it. A fight with Kimbo would be great. Maybe they could work a deal to have him fight Fedor in M1 .....

Jk. Seriously though, it just never gets old watching someone that big fight swing at someone who isnt that big's head. You just feel like if he hits em clean, their head will fly into the 10th row.

I personally love the freak fights. The Japanease did the best with the BIG guys, Butterbean would be the best for Sapp though...that would most definately draw a good crowd!!

I wonder if Sapp will have to do a drug test...

BTW, I am not trying to just throw accusations of steroid use out there. But if we can speculate about anyone it's gotta be the Beast.

Can't believe it hasn't come up yet....

James Thompson is supposed to fight for them around the same time and I don't think has an opp yet..... This would be awesome and I'd put money on James, but it'd be an all out war either way. He's tryin to slim to HW but that might make it a good time to have this fight, even if he comes in under 265 and they call it a catchweight fight for commission purposes.

Thompson and Sapp would be amazing. That fight would only last about 12 seconds, but no matter who lost we all would win because that would be an all out war!

but i think its pretty safe to say who would win, WAR JT! He is definately fighting in February so unless Elite XC also have a card that month he is on this event and most likely fighting Sapp will be awesome if it happens

I was kinda hoping the UFC released CC from his contract so proelite pick him up on the cheap and we get to see this again

I want CC to get back on track. I have a feeling he's gonna come back and start beating on guys again.

Why do you expect the fight to be so long?
