Former UFC champion Royce Gracie made an interesting remark on Wednesday following news of Shane Carwin's knee injury. Carwin was forced to pull out of a planned fight with Roy Nelson at The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale in December with the injury.

"So much for the claims (Nelson) was trying to get out of the fight with (Carwin)," Gracie posted, "guess that random test (expletive) up the cycle and 'blew out the knee.'"

Gracie is claiming that Carwin would have failed a pre-fight drug test for a banned substance had he went ahead with the bout. This is all just Gracie stating his own opinion, but Carwin and Nelson had several arguments over such claims before they began coaching on The Ultimate Fighter.

Nelson is expected to remain on the card, as the UFC has said they are searching for a replacement.

I wondered this myself when it was first reported but who knows.

Royce had something to say about Carwin? How weird is that?

Big allegation from Royce here. To be honest it kinda rubbed me the wrong way. There is no proof to support it so im gonna chalk this one up to footinmouth disease. I mean, knowing there is a shit ton of scrutiny on this this season why would he take roids just so he could pull out of the fight? And wasn't it Royce who tested positive after his second fight against Sakuraba?

Exactly. Pot, kettle, black. Regardless of suspicions about Carwin, an aging heavyweight blowing out his knee is hardly proof that steroids are the cause. Injuries aren't uncommon when you're 37.

Pretty sure Royce tested positive after the Sakuraba rematch, so I don't know where he gets off on this one. Saku forever!

The whole situation seems strange. I agree with Fastknockout,in that I think quiet a few people where thinking this in passing. Maybe not as fact but as "what if" type of speculation. Royce is a fighter who's saying what some of the fans have speculated. If probably, only to themselves.
The only problem is Royce landed in hot water after the Saku rematch so it's a bit strange for him to be vocal to me anyways,on this situation.
I give Royce a pass because he's Royce, but I doubt the fanbase in general will be so kind.

Not only after the Sakuraba fight, but wasn't he popped for juicing after the Hughes fight too?? I mean, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but some people should know when to shut their mouths and sit in the corner.

Now that Carwin's "blown out knee" will only keep him out for a couple months Royce might be right. Still a hypocrite though.

Agreed. Royce got popped for roids himself so maybe he has some insight...although I will say Carwin does seem to go back and forth from looking blown up to deflated. Really thought it would have been a great fight though, so pretty disappointing.
