UFC officials today answered the question Vitor Belfort refused to address: Yes, "The Phenom" did use testosterone replacement therapy in advance of his UFC on FX 7 win over Michael Bisping.

UFC officials today revealed Belfort was granted a therapeutic-use exemption for testosterone replacement therapy prior to the bout and that his post-fight drug screen "did not indicate the presence of any prohibited substance for increasing performance improvement."

Belfort and Bisping headlined the Jan. 19 event, which took place at Sao Paulo's Ibirapuera Gymnasium. The Brazilian scored a second-round TKO over the Brit and then proceeded to call for a rematch with current light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

All 22 fighters who competed on the card were tested for performance-enhancing drugs and drugs of abuse, and the UFC this past week confirmed one test result in an "irregular" finding, which led to speculation that Belfort – who in 2006 was suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission after testing positive for the anabolic steroid 4-Hydroxytestosterone – was the culprit.

I don't. It's legal now and he was in the appropriate levels. If he failed the test I would feel bad but I don't in the slightest.

they dont care about levels as long as you have a prescription hes a cheater plain i think he could have won without it his integrity will always be in question to me now. bisping didnt need it to fight because he is a real man.

You don't know what you're talking about. There are two sides to this argument and both have valid points but you have 0 facts and spout nonsense like it's your day job.

YUUUUPPPP!

No points made. Levels are what they look for. And he was approved. He's clean for this fight. Bisping got beat...deal with it.

i know this wasnt in the states which may be why he was allowed to use it, but isnt failing a past PED test auto disqualification for TRT exemption?

I'm over TRT, it is legal so as long as they are in the limits placed by the commission then i say fuck it.... not a fan of TRT but whatever

I forgot about that, I'm pretty sure it varies state to state but I swear I've read the same thing somewhere.

im completely alright with this. if somebody cannot make the correct amount of testosterone then they need to get it medically prescribed regardless of whether they are a fighter or not. it's not cheating. if their levels are way up or they do it without medical supervision than thats different, but vitor did it the right way. i hope vitor continues to use TRT and keeps KO'ing people, he's still got a lot of great fights in him.

if belfort isnt the only one doing it (which we already know is the case) then who cares?

if its the relative norm nowadays this shouldnt even be news

So it's official Michael Bisping is the greatest fighter in the history in the UFC, It's a shame he's only lost to old bums who have to use TRT to beat him, If not for TRT Bisping would have 2 losses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

C'mon people Bisping beats Mid-tier fighters Leben,Rivera,Stann,Mayhem, Every fighter he's lost to are great fighters that have either had titles or fought for titles.TRT or Not Bisping lost his fights because the other guys are better fighters.I know a lot of you UK guys love him and he's boy and all and thats fine, but TRT is considered legal and the results won't be changed...So get over it, if you lose come back stronger don't piss and moan and make excuses.Vitor,Hendo,Wandy "at the time" and Chael IMO are all better than Bisping.

Why is it always a controversy when certain fighters lose ?

On that topic, do you know what they were? Unless I suck at reading (I do), it didn't say what Vitor ended up testing. My issue is come fight night, if you're something like 4:1 then you are clearly using a drug for an advantage. I think that was the ratio they limit you to, but I could be wrong.

Even with the ratio at the legal level of 4:1 can somebody explain to me how this is ok because isn't the ratio of the average person 1:1?

I understand that it is currently legal but I don't like it. I may be wrong in what I have read but if it is true most people are at 1:1 then realistically anyone could get on TRT to raise their ratio to 4:1 and still test clean when there is a clear advantage.

I'm also fully aware that the fighters need a doctors approval for the procedure but which doctors say it's fine UFC doctors or any doctor the fighter goes to?
