Heading into last year, Lyle “Fancy Pants” Beerbohm was making a name for himself in the Strikeforce lightweight division when back-to-back losses not only cost him his undefeated record, but his contract with the promotion as well.

“My loss to Pat Healy was in a really, really close fight, and in my fight with (Shinya) Aoki, I made a mistake I shouldn’t have,” said Beerbohm. “I’m not a really patient fighter – and on the ground you have to be patient – and I just wanted to get up and get out of there so I gave up my back and he ended up choking me out pretty fast.”

So when Beerbohm was getting ready for 2012, he felt some change was needed to get him back on track.

I thought he needed to go to 145 after seeing him look small against Healy.

I could see him getting the call with a win over Maximus. He is a pretty solid fighter and at his age the move would need to be made now if ever.

I have to root for Beerbohm. On his ride home from prison, stopped by a BJJ school and signed up and the rest is history. Could've easily gone back to what he was doing before. Good story

It doesn't happen on this website as it does on others, but it's funny how some messageboards consider fans that became fans after TUF began as TUF noobs still. Yet there are fighters like Beerbohm who became a fan because of TUF and has about 20 MMA fights and has fought for major organizations. At some point, some of the messageboard elitists out there need to let their guard down. We're all fans of the same sport whether you started watching 15 years ago or yesterday.

I wish every meth head would follow his example and drop the ice and make something of their lives. Beerbohm is a good example that it is possible to quit and to start living the kind of life you want to.
