link UFC light heavyweight Jon Jones just went from top prospect to title contender.

Following Jones' win over the previously undefeated Ryan Bader at Saturday's UFC 126 event in Las Vegas, UFC broadcaster Joe Rogan announced that Jones will get the next shot at Mauricio "Shogun" Rua's 205-pound title.

I think Jones/Rua is the more interesting fight at this point.

So true...wonder how long Rashad will be out?

What's next for Silva? Okami?

Either that or GSP.

I am thinking the superfight gets made if GSP beats Shields.

I also wouldn't mind seeing Silva fight the winner of Shogun/Jones.

This would be more ideal. I think, in a perfect world, GSP could school Anderson in every aspect of the game, however, GSP is giving up too much weight. I'd prefer to see both vacate their titles and move up.

I doubt that GSP could school Silva, I'd figure it to be either a boring match of lay n' pray or a Silva KO. The only shot GSP has is if Silva becomes the fighter he was against Damion Maia.

I think it's more likely he'll fight Shogun if he he defeats Jones. GSP isn't really looking forward to moving up to fight Anderson and I don't believe Anderson could drop the weight to fight at 177 even. i don't think he would fight Jones if Jones were to win but it could still happen, I have a hard time picking anybody over Jones after watching him manhandle Bader without breaking a sweat.

I pick Shogun . I wasnt impressed with Jones standup last night, although his takedowns were great. Shogun's standup is great. and he could sweep or submit Jones on his back in my opinion

Anderson Silva is awesome again, I doubt he will fight GSP.

I pick Shogun to hault this hype train. I wasnt impressed with Jones standup last night.

It's not like he really needed to display it all that much.

i don't think jones takes this fight....i think shogun is to good at this point, Jones need to take the fight to the ground to win but I just don't see him beating Shogun (maybe later but not at this point in his career)

Ring rust is a mother, and Jones is hungry......I am predicting the upset too. On the GSP / Silva fight I will say the same thing I have for years.....GSP will get owned. He may be a better wrestler, some (not me) will even argue better striker, however Silva is huge and has the distinct ability to KO opponents and to pull submissions off his back. GSP doesnt have a prayer.

I don't understand how Jones didn't know Evans was injured. It must have happened within the last few days because they train together at Jacksons, and I don't see how his teammate being injured would pass without any notice.

(Edit)

Nevermind. It was recent.

I've been hearing rumblings that if Jones wins then Rashad will switch weight classes...
very interesting, imo

I'd rather see him fight the winner or loser of Rampage/Thiago first or maybe Forrest before he fights for the title, but I guess this works too. I just really wanna see him fight someone in the top 5.
