"The Expendables," a new Hollywood release that boasts UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture among its ensemble cast, won the U.S. box office this past weekend.

The Lionsgate flick earned an estimated $35 million and topped "Eat Pray Love" ($23.7 million) and "The Other Guys ($18 million).

The action-war film opened in 3,270 theaters across the U.S.

"The Expendables" focuses on a group of mercenaries hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow a ruthless dictator. In addition to Couture, who also earned a major role in "The Scorpion King 2," the film features notables Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and others. UFC fighters Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and twin brother Antonio Rogerio Nogueira also have small parts.

I couldn't believe it when I spotted Rogerio Noguiera right off the bat. Then when I saw Big Nog later I was looking for UFC fighters for the rest of the movie. Great stuff!

Movie is definitely a throw back action flick that is very entertaining.
