Either way Rory should get some more fights, but I dont want him to beat everyone and than lose to Fitch in 2 years, as a result of never being grinded out by a "dominant Wrestler"
Rory has more hype than Story, and could grow from a loss and still be considered contender material once he improves from a loss.

the Story hype train was much stronger before Brenneman than Rory's is now. i think he already has grown quite a bit from his Condit loss...like when was the last time Nate Diaz was handled like that? another loss to a top contender (Kos/Shields/Fitch) will do more than a loss to Sanchez or Kampmann for example

(yes, bj beat fitch).

Actually, no he didn't, Cecil Peoples.

Rd 1: BJ
Rd 2: BJ
Rd 3: Fitch

pretty simple really, how can you give fitch round 2 for a takedown over bj getting his back and bj winning the striking, thats ridiculous, takedowns are overrated

I'm pretty sure he means because it was a draw since round 3 was a clear 10-8.

This.

IMO, Saying Fitch clearly won, holds exactly as much weight as saying BJ clearly won.

Either way, it's silly.

I think MacDonald will be the Champ someday, but his wrestling is a little raw and undeveloped for the stacked 170 wrestling weight division. I think he loses to most strong wrestlers.

hahaha not at all. the draw was a gift. Fitch won

based on what? one takedown in round two? getting out a close choke? good argument man...

I thought BJ won the fight two. I scored rounds one and two for him and round 3 10-9 for fitch. I think its a little silly to argue that it was a 10-8, but lotsa people disagree with me so I guess there must be something to it.

In any case, your opinion on a close fight like that should always be stated for what it is, an opinion.

No use in arguing over it cause the judges scored it a draw so thats what it is.

Straight from the MMA Unified Rules handbook that all judges are required to adhere to:

2. A round is to be scored as a 10-9 Round when a contestant wins by a close margin, landing the greater number of effective legal strikes, grappling and other maneuvers;
3. A round is to be scored as a 10-8 Round when a contestant overwhelmingly dominates by striking or grappling in a round.
4. A round is to be scored as a 10-7 Round when a contestant totally dominates by striking or grappling in a round.

Furthermore Fitch hit all 3 Takedowns in the 3rd while Penn had zero and Fitch outstruck Penn 149 of 181 to 2 of 4 in the 3rd round. He outstruck him 149 to 2!

I could see a 10-7 more than I could see a 10-9. What type of Kool-Aid makes anyone think that could've been only a 10-9 because I want some.

I can see the argument for a 10-8 or a 10-9. I think the 148 strikes are a little misleading as they were all arm punches, at least I can't recall a single power shot--I'd equate just as if a guy were held in the clinch for five minutes, and he was kneed in the thigh 148 times, do you score that a 10-8 round?

Fitch might be a little too much for Rory right now. Fitch may just be too big and strong for Rory to deal with...although Rory doesn't seem to be satisfied working from the bottom. It seems like when he's on his back he's going to work very hard to get back to his feet--whereas a lot of guys try to be patient and wait for an opening that never comes.

I'd probably pick Fitch now, but I wouldn't feel it's a lock.

Actually, I'd absolutely score that as a 10-8 round.

Same. 148 strikes to 2 in any situation over 5 minutes is at a minimum a 10-8 in my book.
