Still resonable considering that they compensate with many free events on Spike and others networks to come like probably CBS .

Free events are not compensation for raising ppv prices. No correlation at all.

I don't see how they can do it w/o adding the prelims and an hour to the show.

Well i say they probably won't add the prelims to it, because then the UFC on demand loses one aspect that makes it attractive to the consumer.

I would rather watch commercials than pay this much for an event.

the free events are compensate for the rising price in the sence that instead of having to pay 39.99$ for every events all years long, you will have to pay 44.99$ but more and more events are going to be free on spike and CBS probably.

so at the end, if a guy was going to watch every events anyways, he will not see a difference for the total of the years.

i have free PPV..so it really makes no difference, unless they imrpove the show, probably not but always a possibility....i think they need to change the intro, i hate the gladiator theme, they should make a new one

I spend my 40 bucks on 16 beer and watch it in a pub instead.

On a related note , hopefully the fighters salaries will compensated accordingly in response to the extra revenue.

Ya right.

First off, your math doesn't add up. The # of ppv events hasn't decreased. The # of events doesn't average the same way or anything. Right now we're up to 13 ppv's /yr. 08 might be more cuz they are having a Jan one they didn't on 07. The free events are not ppv level, and they are an addition. Someone who wants to get every ppv is paying almost $75/yr more at $5 /event.

The free events are because they are growing to be a "real" sport. All real sports are on free tv. Boxing has to largely rely on ppv #s cuz noone watches all the free boxing. We should be working towards a level like football, baseball, hockey, rugby, almost any other sport makes enuf off adverts to not need ppv. Not charging more for 5 fights and a maybe.

I also don't need to pay for ppv's but I think that isn't the discussion.

they should lower them for the standard package they offer now and then you should have an option to pay more to get all the fights. If they extend the rounds like there's talk of, there will soon be PPV with 2 or 3 fights i bet.

I already thought it was lame that you had to pay for the unaired prelim fights even if you spend the $40 for the event

the $5 jump makes me think soon they will be up to $50 and then even more

They will charge what the market will bear. Its good business...a 12% increase in price and there is absolutely no chance they will lose 12% of viewers because of it (note: Numbers are not exact, but the essence is valid)

LOL greedy zuffa!

Glad we get them for free on just an 18 hour tape delay

And hey remember people as Dana says - the prelims arent for you, they are for the people who see it live - WTF Dana people see it live for the atmos and everything, hardly anybody turns up early to see prelims then they dont screen them either, if nobody used ufc on demand they would start showing them i think

It's probably down, to some extent, to the economic turmoil your country is currenty going through:

Looks like no prices are rising in real terms. Link.

"How could so many things be so expensive while consumer price inflation is so modest? How is it possible that the cost of living remains, according to the feds, under control? The answer is simple; the feds are lying. So concludes the Economist in this weeks edition. It says that an average of all items is going up not at 2% or 3% per year as the US government claims, but at 16.7% per year! Food is going up even faster at 31.6%."

Still, don't really know much about the pricing history of the PPV events - have the prices went up in previous years?
