After having the wino n his hands and wasting it trying to choke Frank Mira t UFC 140, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira had to pay a high price, since he was submitted with a kimura and broke his arm. The defeat might have been one of the most painful ones on the legend’s career, due to the way it happened, since Mir was the first one to ever knock the Brazilian out, and now the first to submit Rodrigo. On his official website, the tough guy talked about what happened and tried to explain it to his fans.

Too bad for him that when he went for that choke Mir outclassed him and showed that his ground game is just as good or even better than his own. IMO, the debate is over.

I quickly watched that fight again and Nog was clearly hitting the back of Mir's head. It wasn't very hard but it was a good call by the ref.

0-2 against Mir.

GROAAAANNNNNNNNNNNN....

Come on man, just have some dignity and class, take your loss like a man and move on. This is really frustrating to read from a legend like Nog. A staph infection if you actually have it is a real problem. This is just a really ridiculous statement, and the weakest excuse I've ever heard from a fighter.

I would rather hear one of Tito's speeches about how his skull was cracked and his spine was fused and he stubbed his toe entering the ring, then choked on a piece of dust right as the bell rang and a mosquito flew in his eye.

Agreed. He should respect the fact that Mir is (at this point) the better fighter.

I read all the comments before reading the article and i was expecting some garbage excuses. I didn't read it that way though. To me it just sounds like he was explaining what was going through his head during the fight and why he tried to go for the choke rather than continue punching.

but in grappling matches i remember the ref saying things that made me switch up what i was doing (that I thought was just fine and was working) to something that ended up not working and/or even worked against me.

Plus it's being translated, right? Historically he hasn't been an excuse maker but any losing fighter would have to have an idea of what went wrong in the fight and it sounds like he is just explaining what lead up to the loss after being in a dominant position.

Somebody's digging for something, It just sounded like his regrets and thoughts on the fight and the ending.

Big Nog:

But I’m not here to apologize. I lost

I read "Not trying to make excuses" and this is probably a poor translation.

Lots of guys make excuses after a loss though. The trick is not to go public with them. Many times the "excuses" or reasons are actually legit.

Personally, I could give you a "reason" or "excuse" as to why I should have won every grappling match I've ever lost (which isn't very many
)

I have learned however that no one else is interested in my excuses. People just want results and tactful losers.
