The UFC light heavyweight champion has signed a sweeping, worldwide sponsorship deal with sports apparel giant Nike, MMA Fighting has confirmed with multiple sources.

The two sides have agreed to a multi-year contract that will see Jones decked out in Nike gear for the foreseeable future. On Sept. 1, when he faces Dan Henderson at UFC 151, Jones will be rocking the famous "Swoosh."

As a part of the deal, Jones will be featured on worldwide Nike advertising and receive his own signature line, sources said. It is expected to be announced within a week.

Since JJ & Anderson are both signed w/ Nike, do you think this makes them more likely to face each other or less likely?

Less. Nike is only big enough for one black MMA superstar...

they drop tiger woods for having sex with porn stars..., but sponsor a drunk driver?
A drunk driver who endangers other peoples lives both in the vehicle and on the street.

way to go Nike.

This is actually fairly big news imo. This could lead to an influx of talent as more young athletes look at mma as a sport where it is possible to make comparable $$ to other professional sports.

if they didnt, they sure dropped all his advertising....
I know they very early they said he had "their full support" but after that there was nothing, no commercials, no ads.

I think this is a win/win. Nike is gonna reach another market and Jones will have a more global identity.

not f-ing likely as much as I dis like him personally,Jones would make Silva his bitch, and if stipulated, would slide a skirt and tube top and hooker boots on him to win the match and make it official

interesting.......from mma weekly

While the two situations may not have anything to do with one another, White points out that Nike has decided to drop their endorsement deal with boxing star Manny Pacquiao as they begin their new relationship with Jones. “They’re shutting down the Manny Pacquiao line and starting up the Jon Jones line,” White revealed. “I don’t know why they shut down the Pacquiao line, but they did and that (expletive) was selling like hot cakes. I got Manny Pacquiao (expletive) from Nike.” Jones’ deal with Nike will include a clothing line as well as a signature shoe that will be produced in the coming months. Look for Jones to debut at least some of the gear when he hits the Octagon on Sept 1.
