When Nick Diaz is eligible to re-apply for a fight license in February 2013, a top fight in the UFC welterweight division will be awaiting him, but it won’t be a title fight.

Diaz lost his last bout by unanimous decision to current UFC interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit. He was then suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission after testing positive for marijuana following the bout.

Because it was his second infraction for the same substance, Diaz was handed a one-year suspension by the commission. The suspension runs through Feb. 4, 2013.

from a business standpoint, giving Diaz a fight he has a good chance at losing would all but wipeout a big money PPV of Diaz vs GSP if GSP beats Condit. Maia would make sense after calling him out, although he's not top WW contender but he was top 5 MW for a while

Maia, Mac, Ellenberger or Kos....Hendricks is getting Kampmann, Alves is too inconsistant to get that match up right now.....anyone got any other ideas?

I personally dont care who he fights! Lets just get Nick Diaz in the UFC Octagon on a regular basis, and lets see him 2-3 times a year! That would be good enough for me.

We would have that if not for Nicks poor choices

Diaz is a thousand times more worthy of fighting above his class for a title than Sonnen.

Like almost everyone out there I really want GSP vs Nick Diaz. That would be a huge draw and they have some unsettled business.

My scenario- And all of this would have to happen in order for this to go down like I personally want it to go down.
1. GSP beats Condit
2 Hendricks beats Kampmann
3 GSP beats Hendricks
4. Nick Diaz beats Kampmann

And the we get GSP vs Nick Diaz. Epic

That's a whole lot of if's but all very possible. And a little off subject we can get Rory MacDonald vs Condit II.
then you can have Maia vs Fitch, Kos vs Ellenberger(originally on the UFC 151 card), Siyar Bahadurzada vs Alves(originally on the UFC 149 card).

Ellenberger and Koscheck's stocks are down a little and I think Diaz would take out either of them. Rory's stock is too high for the UFC to risk it and he'd probably beat Diaz. Also, a well-prepared Alves could give Diaz serious problems. I hate it, but Diaz will make the UFC $$$ only if he wins fights.
