Alright, considering the Olympics are starting up soon, I figured I'd organize a world championship event for MMA, taking legitimate contenders from 12 countries for each weight class (lightweight to heavyweight) and putting them against each other in a single elimination tourney. I also tried to avoid picking champions, as well as obvious dominant fighters in each division whom many would pick by default. The winner of each tourney will receive the gold, the runner up will receive silver, and then the losers of the semi final matches will fight to determine the bronze. I had to really search in some cases to find semi recognizable internationally known fighters, so if you don't know a number of fighters, I apologize, but maybe you can find their fights online somewhere to check them out.

Each round will begin at 8:20pm EST (at the time of my posting this), and will end 24 hours later. I will tally each round to determine a winner and will update the results on both the original post as well as a follow up so people don't have to go all the way back to the main page to figure out who is fighting. Fights for the first round were created using a random number generator and all the later rounds will follow the bracket format.

Alright, I think I covered everything I needed to. Just pick your winner, no need to pick how they win (unless you want to) and enjoy!

Remember: DO NOT DO THE WHOLE TOURNEY! ONLY CHOOSE FOR EACH ROUND!

except you got some guys in the wrong weight classes

Nakamura not a HW (is LHW)-->> possible replacement Yoshihiro Nakao/Hidehiko Yoshida

Misaki is not a LHW (is MW)-> replace with Nakamura

Radev isnt a LHW either (is MW)- cant think of anybody to replace him though

Akihiro Gono is not a MW (is WW)-> replace with Misaki/Akiyama

Matt Hamill isnt a MW (is LHW)--> replace with Drew Mcfedries

Melendez is not a WW (is LW)--> replace with Burkman

Roman Mitichyan is not a LW (is WW)-> replace with Manny Gamburian

those are just suggestions, dont know if you intended it to be that way in the first place.

Gono has fought at MW through most of his career so i don't think he has to be replaced.

Well he is WW now, so he'd be at a disadvantage in terms of Weight/Size, + i think Misaki/Akiyama would be much better in terms of having a better chance/representing their country

I actually did purposely add the lists the way I did. You'll notice that all of those suggestions are within one weight class which is not uncommon to reach for the vast majority of fighters. I had to fudge a few to really make it interesting without using big name fighters. Just take it at face value for what I have, and if you think a fighter is at a disadvantage, then go ahead and base your decisions off of that. Thanks for the advice though.
