Aired Prelims:
Jack 'Hammer' Marshman defeats 'The New York Bad Ass' Phil Baroni (Knock Out (Punch) in 0:59 of round 3).
'KO' Kyle Noke defeats James 'Lightning' Wilks (Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3).
Renato 'Babalu' Sobral defeats Cyrille 'Snake' Diabate (Submission (Ankle Lock) in 3:47 of round 1).
Michael Page vs Jamie Yager = Cancelled

Facebook Prelims:
Paul 'Metabolic' McVeigh defeats Jason 'Shotgun' Young (Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3).
Rustam 'Tiger' Khabilov defeats Vaughan Lee (Knock Out (Diving Punch) in 3:02 of round 2).

Quick Summary =
Rustam won the first round escaping submissions and using takedowns to keep Vaughan on the defensive, this continuted into the second round. The ending came after Lee was throwing some upkicks from the Up/Down position and Rustam found a whole in the guard and landed a brutal jumping/diving punch onto Lee.

Paul and Jason were involved in a very close fight, it appeared in the opening round that it was Paul's gameplan to outwrestle Jason and in the first round he did just that. The second round Paul's wrestling gameplan went out the window and the 2 were involved in a very close 2nd round. The third was yet another striking based round and once again it was very close, this round however went more towards Paul and as a result Paul took the decision 29-28 x 3. It was a very close fight that maybe wouldn't have been so close if Paul continued to wrestle Jason.

Dirty Blue made it clear to Renato if he wants to get his hand on a title fight he'll have to earn it and it won't come easily - Nonetheless he began his campaign with a bang. After being reminded of Diabatte's dangerous striking he got the takedown and worked on his submissions, after failing with the armbar and americana he got the finish with a anklelock.

Noke and Wilks became a battle of attrition as both men were looking for the takedown but neither man was successful. Both men gassed very quickly, overall this fight came down to who was better on the feet when the fighters weren't tyed up in a takedown attempt and that went to Noke as a result the fight was 30-27 on all 3 judges cards to Noke.

Marshman and Baroni was expected to be a standup war but instead Marshman played it safe and mixed up the striking with takedowns. Baroni gassed very quickly as expected but Marshman waited till Baroni was tired and then was comfortable to stand with Baroni as a result when he started pouring his striking on Baroni had no answer for it and Marshman got the finish early in the third.

Mills vs Thiago was a quick and exciting fight, Mills wanted to get in close but Thiago tried to use feints and footwork to stay on the outside... This failed though as Mills got the clinch and it was only a matter of time before the Knee hit the chin and it was goodnight for Mr Thiago.

Hardy and Safferdine was a war. In the first Safferdine looked to be dominating the stand up however after going for a takedown to secure the round, Hardy found an opening to sprawl and take Safferdines back and work a few submissions giving Hardy the round. The second round showed Safferdine was worried about Hardy's grappling game and as a result the table was turned and Hardy began dominating the stand up. In the third round Hardy looked as if he had taken an adrenaline dump and was visibly a lot slower, Safferdine started taking advantage of that and started landing multiple combos, eventually one rocked Hardy, Safferdine quickly landed a follow up left and it was good night Hardy.

Hathaway vs Florian became very onesided as Hathaway could not find the takedown, Florian bested him on the feet landing knees, elbows, punches, you name it he landed it. All hathaway attempted was takedowns which he failed and as a result Florian won 30x27 both men showed Cardio and Hathaway showed the heart of a champion but the bottom line was that Florian gave him a lesson in stand up, it'll be interesting to see how Hathaway approaches his stand up training from now on.

Lil Nog vs Big Wiuff looked to be a mismatch as the 2 touched gloves and a lot of people questioned how long it would be before Wiuff gassed but with the extra 10 pounds of weight Wiuff didn't have to cut turned out to be a big difference.
Round 1 Lil Nog got the takedown and almost finished the fight with an arm triangle, after the escape Lil Nog poured on the ground and pound and it was lucky for Wiuff to survive the first round.
Round 2 began and Lil Nog made it clear he wants to finish Wiuff as he dropped him in the opening seconds, Lil Nog took the back straight away and went for an armbar, but Wiuff found a way to roll out and took Lil Nogs back, what a twist of fate, for the rest of the round Lil Nog was defending Wiuff's Choke attempt.
Round 3 Lil Nog looked to in close to try and finish this fight on the feet, Wiuff ended up forcing Lil Nog to respect him by landing strikes of his own, as a result this was a hell of a round with the 2 dropping bombs on each other. The biggest suprises in the round was that it appeared Lil Nog was starting to gas, maybe Lil Nog had taken Wiuff lightly!
Round 4. The two return to standing in the pocket and it looks like Wiuff has faded dramatically, he appears more comfortable to stand in the pocket though and hope either himself or Lil Nog goes down. Lil Nogs footwork also went out the window and they were both happy to swing, this became Lil Nogs downfall as he got rocked and dropped, Wiuff rushed in to complete the upset and Lil Nog was left on the canvas trying to pull guard as Wiuff landed the ground and pound to give him the championship, What an upset.

The Main Event between Chisea and Pearson, 2 men with fantastic heart and desire, but in the end it was all about Pearson's footwork, striking and technique, The takedown was never there for Chisea and as a result he was showed a lesson in striking being dropped multiple times throughout the fight, but the chin of Chisea never gave up and never stopped looking for the takedown but it was Pearsons all day as he took the title.

FOTN: Wiuff vs Lil Nog
SOTN: By default Renato Sobral
KOTN: Rustam Khabilov

BudgeMMA1: Can't believe Maximo beat Dennis Siver like that! Also surprised Stipe didn't last longer. You don't see a heavyweight guillotine often! The mainevent looked like a squash match on paper but Belcher hung in there longer then most of Hendos opponents! Can't wait to see who gets a title shot. Great debut from BudgeMMA!

ZFU1: Three KO punches & an omoplata!!! & thats just the main card! Very exciting event! I'm surprised Rockhold had the power to crush Vitor like that!! Maybe I should give those Strikeforce guys more credit. I would jizz in my pants if I saw a Condit omoplata in real life! FUCK a omoplata in the UFC by anyone would be legit!! Hows about Lavar going full beast mode on Frank! Awesome.

DBBC1: A lot of my favs got beat on this card so I aint too pleased. I gotta admit I counted out Travis Wiuff before the fight even started but man he proved me wrong. BUT rumour has it that Lil Nog had the flu Can't believe Safferdine merked the Outlaw like he did. Extremely impressive. Also Paulos chin must be completely gone.. Che Mills Knee KO!?!? I mean.. come oN! Super strong Facebook fights tho = Tiger' Khabilov diving punch! YES!

I see a rematch in Lil Nogs future... I assure you his road won't be anywhere near as long as Sobral's . Yeah Paulo's chin ain't doing so well, I'll see how he fairs in a less explosive fighter in the future for now though, I'll post up DBBC 2 Canada vs Brazil soon!

Quick Summary

Sicilia vs Phan
Sicilia in the first showed excellent and improved stand up in the first which must have caught Phan off guard as he was really looking hesistant but round 2 came and Sicillia went back to his signature and with Phan being so cautious he hit and dropped with the Sicilia special forward step right hook Phan was able to recover though and the round ended with Phan just trying to make it to the bell. Round 3 came and Phan started finding some rhythm in his strikes but it was too little too late as Sicilia through another signature right and it was all over.

Garcia vs Brandao
Garcia began pressuring and looking to close the distance, Brandao wanted to try and land the big bombs whilst Garcia was coming forward. Garcia was looping rights and lefts as the crowd cheered him on, in the second round Brandao gave the fans what they wanted to see and joined Garcia in the pocket and as soon as he did Brandao finished the fight with a big right hook. Brandao looked phenomenal in finishing Garcia in his own game.

Shonie Carter vs Renzo Gracie
Flying knee straight from the get go by Carter put Gracie on his ass and Gracie was hurt, Shonnie took mount, worked submissions, worked the ground and pound, but Gracie hung in fighting off of instinct and survived into Round 2. Another flying knee puts Gracie on his back again, Carter tries to finish Gracie but Gracie stalls him in half guard so Carter stands back up. Gracie wants nothing to do with Carters stand up as he attempts a few takedowns but Carter keeps his distance well and lands a few single shots making Gracie pay. The third round was nothing to write home about, both men exhausted Gracie giving half assed takedown attempts and Carter landing shots with no power behind them but all the credit to Carter who takes the fight 30-27x3

Miranda vs Yvel
After a pathetic first round with barely any strikes thrown Yvel took the round by defending off all of Mirandas takedown attempts. Yvel gassed very quickly into the second round and Miranda noticed this, so he tried to swarm in on yet another takedown attempt which Yvel once again defended but Miranda managed to catch Yvel with his hands low and lands a barrage of right hands. The crowd are happy to see the fight ended and Miranda looks shocked he managed to knockout Yvel on the feet.
Yvel blamed motivation issues on his poor cardio and vows to not get knocked out by another Ju Jitsu guy

Royler Gracie vs Nick Denis - Canada vs Brazil 1
This fight was all about the speed of Denis' kicks and the takedown defence of Denis, Gracie couldn't catch any of Denis' kicks and ended up getting his legs kicked repeatedly and even getting dropped in round 2 from a kick to the ribs. Denis' punches were to fast and Gracie was a bruised mess, eventually Gracie found the takedown in the third but it was too late and all Gracie could do is stall the clock
Denis' took the fight 30-26, 29-28 and 30-27.

Gagnon vs Marcello - Canada vs Brazil 2
Marcello came out seeming happy to stand with Gagnon and the 2 went to war on the feet, in the end Gagnon landed a barrage of rights on Marcello forcing him back, as soon as Gagnon was close enough he grabbed the guillitone and pulled guard, it looked like Gagnon might have shocked the crowd but Marcello survived well and escaped finishing the round landing strikes from side control. Round 2 began how round 1 did with the 2 trading, but in the end this proved to all be a trick into letting Gagnon get comfortable as Marcello caught Gagnon offguard with a single leg. From there Gagnon became a fish out of water as Marcello passed the guard, took mount, grabbed the arm, tried an armbar and it was Marcello who picked up the win

The Lightweight Final Brandao vs Sicilia
Brandao came out looking tired and faded the fight started and he wanted no part of the striking game, Sicilia appeared a lot fresher but quickly found himself against the fence with Brandao working his dirty boxing. Sicilia kept trying to push him away and slip out from against the cage, eventually he did and before anyone knew it, Brandao stepped forward to try get in close with some strikes and attempt to apply another clinch but Sicilia avoided all the punches and landed stepped forward with a fantastic counter uppercut putting Brandao to sleep.

The Winner of the Lightweight Tournament is the underdog Sam Sicilia winning both fights with his signature step forward land the right hand!!!

The debut of Damian Maia vs Brad Tavares
Both fighters came out with a slow pace but in the end the whole crowd were on there feet, Tavares took the first by outstriking Maia and defending his takedowns but it was only the beginning, as round 2 entered a few takedown attempts weren't going to dishearten Maia, whenever the 2 were standing Tavares tried to keep the distance and land shots but Maia never stopped going for the takedown and when he got it he worked all sorts of submissions but nothing compared to the desperation of Maia in round 3, he tried a flying heel hook but Tavares escaped everything Maia had to offer him, from Kimura's to Arm Triangles to leg locks, Tavares avoided it all showing fantastic submission defence but with a Brazilian crowd and Brazillian judges all the grappling was only going to favour the native and Maia took it 29-28x3.

Nick Ring vs Murilo Bustamante
After Nick started taking control of the striking and putting Bustamante on the back foot he had no trouble in starting to attempt takedowns and when he got it the crowd were on there feet as Bustamante looked comfortable and started to control Nick from the bottom, this however was quickly silenced as Bustamante kicked Nick away and Nick responds with a Diving punch back into the guard of Bustamante, Ring ends the round taking sidecontrol and landing a knee to a disheartened Bustamante.
Round 2 and Nick Ring looks fired up, after some small feints from both men Nick Ring slams Bustamante and he is looking hurt, Ring passes to sidecontrol and works on an Americana, to which Bustamante taps!
Nick Ring does it!!! He takes the middleweight championship in Brazil against a Brazillian Ju Jitsu Black belt via submission and the crowd are going crazy, beer bottles are flying in, Ring takes his belt grabs the canadian flag and rushes off out the arena

Canada end up winning 2-1

Quick Fight Breakdowns:

David Rickels vs. Chidi Njokuani - These two stood toe to toe and went to war. In the end Rickels edged the young prospect but both guys earned fans tonight.

Francisco 'Massaranduba' Drinaldo vs. Mark Bocek - This was a close fight between two top BMMA Lightweights. It came down to the judges and Drinaldo awarded him the split.

Demetrious 'Mighty Mouse' Johnson vs. Johnny Eduardo - Eduardo put up a solid effort but Johnson cruised to a Unanimous decision victory using his superior wrestling. Johnson is well on his way to a title shot.

Yuri Alcantara vs. Josh Grispi - In an early FOTN candidate, Alcantara squeaks by Josh Grispi in a very evenly matched fight. Luckily for these two, neither will be in danger of being cut any time soon with those kind of performances.

Francis Carmont vs. Yushin Okami - This fight produced the first finish of the night. It also produced the first major upset of the night. Okami won the first round, getting the takedown and battling Carmont for position. In the 2nd however, Carmont came out strong and blasted Okami with a right hand that floored him. From there Carmont worked ground and pound until the ref pulled him off. Carmont earns a significant jump in the rankings and a potential shot at the title with this win.

Cain Velasquez vs. Chad Griggs - Cain went right down to business in this fight. It took him just over a minute to land a takedown and follow up with the stoppage due to strikes. Cain earns a shot at the title against Gabriel Gonzaga at the next Budge MMA event.

Frankie Edgar vs. Mac Danzig - To no one's surprise, Edgar dominated his opponent for three rounds. Edgar beat Danzig up wherever the fight took place and took a 30-27 score from all three judges. With the 1st win under his belt, Edgar looks to capture the Budge MMA Lightweight title in his next fight.

Mauricio "Shogun" Rua vs. Joey Beltran - Both men came out with something to prove him this fight. They went to war for 15 minutes and left everything in the cage. In the end, despite a dominate 3rd round from Beltran, Shogun walked away with the W. Both men were dropped in this fight but Shogun did the most damage in the 1st two rounds, taking the decision 29-28, on all scorecards.

Jorge Santiago vs. Chris Weidman - To everyone's surprise, this fight didn't last very long. Weidman came in the heavy favourite but made a crucial mistake that will haunt him the rest of his career. He landed the takedown early but found himself caught in a deep triangle moments later. Having no other choice, Weidman tapped and saw his hopes of a title fight with Dan Henderson fade away. Santiago on the other hand, picked up a huge win and will face Dan Henderson sometime in the near future.

Erik Koch vs. Marlon Sandro - Koch made a statement tonight against Sandro. He's coming for the title and he wants everyone to know it. Including the winner of our main event. After surviving a few scary moments in the 1st round, Koch came out seconds into the 2nd round and landed a picture perfect head kick that knocked Sandro completely out conscious. Koch will meet the winner of tonight's main event at a later date.

Georges St. Pierre vs. Dong Hyun Kim - In the evening's first title fight, GSP made quick work of a DHK. GSP was able to secure the early takedown and from there he casually made his way to the mount position, where he finished DHK off with powerful ground and pound to become the first ever Budge MMA Welterweight champion.

Jose Aldo vs. Hatsu Hioki - Budge MMA acquired Jose Aldo's contract shortly before this fight. Boy, were they happy after this fight. It took Aldo a round to figure out the length of Hioki but once he did it was only a matter of time. Aldo dodged a jab in the pocket and countered with a devastating right hook that ended Hioki's night. With the win Aldo becomes the 1st ever Budge MMA Featherweight Champion. He won't have much time to soak that in though with Erik Koch waiting in the wings for his chance at glory.
