Mike Swick vs. Jonathan Goulet “The Ultimate Fighter” finale

The UFC is in the process of putting together a welterweight battle between Mike Swick and Jonathan Goulet to be a featured bout during Spike TV’s live season finale for the eighth installment of “The Ultimate Fighter” on December 13.

Sources close to both fighters revealed the potential bout to FiveOuncesOfPain.com on Tuesday.

Bout agreements have yet to be presented but the matchup has been proposed to Goulet and Swick, who apparently have both expressed separate interest in taking the fight.

The two had been scheduled to fight last September at UFC Fight Night 11 until Swick had to pull out of the fight due to injury and was replaced by Dustin Hazelett. Despite taking the fight on short notice, Hazelett submitted Goulet at 1:14 of round 1 with an armbar.

Easy win for Swick, Goulet is a talented fighter, but he lacks a jaw unfortunately. I see a Swick KO in Rd. 1.

solid fight but i think swick is just better in all the areas and will win this fight.

Goulet is one of the only fighters you could get into a fight with at a bar and have a definite punchers chance to take him out.

If swick doesnt win this fight he needs to find a new line of work.

The Mike Swick of old would have won in 0.00000000010030040500 secs but these days dunno. He is one of my fav fighters but I think round 2 swickatine choke.

I agree. Swick is just better than Goulet at just about everything. Should be a solid win for Swick.

should be a good fight, and another win for Mike....but seems like an odd opponent at this point

i think this will be a quick ko for him he should start contending for a title shot next year

As most others here, I"m not sure I understand the Goulet matchup. Last time I saw Goulet he was fighting at 155. They always have some of the strangest matchups at the finale.

I think the reason for that is these cards are tailored to appeal to the highly casual fan... The guys who watch TUF when it's on but never pay for a UFC event unless it's headlined by Chuck and just want to see a bunch of guys getting KTFO instantly.

I think they make fights that have a high probability to end in a quick KO to try to draw this type of fan into buying more PPV events. Sakara, Alexander, McFedries, Gouveia, Lauzon are all matched up against heavy underdogs, and not surprisingly all of these guys have the ability to end the fight with a spectacular KO. All high-action fighters.

Actually he has fought most if not all his UFC fights at WW I believe. He has also fought some MW guys in other venues.

I think this is a fight designed for Swick to finish or there just aren't too many top 10 fighters in the WW for Swick to fight.

Swick hasn't won a fight (other than by decision) for 2 years. His performance has been really lack lustre in the last two years, IMO. Goulet is a do or die fighter, so either we are going to see Swick KOed or Goulet KOed.

If I pick with my heart, I would go with Jonathan. If I pick with my brain, I say Swick (just by a C-hair), but that is based mostly off of the fact that picking the winner for fights with Jonathan (for me) is like mixing oil and water.

Jonathan Goulet is a dark horse in the UFC. A lot of people consider him a can, but I think he has the tools to beat a lot of fighters. It's unfortunate it seems he's caught in middle-tier limbo throughout his career, because he seems like a good guy.

I say this fight has the potential to be upset of the night.

Nice fight, I think Swick takes it pretty easily, but I'm saddened to see that he's fighting Goulet, who's my favorite canadian fighter, Goulet's weak chin will be his weakness, therefore my prediction is Mike Swick by TKO in round 1.

I think goulet will loose this one but am a fan of his so i will still pick him to win. ITs a shame that he has such a weak chin.

Not the greatest match up they've come up with but, will still be entertaining to watch. I see swick winning this fight with very little toruble at all.
