Michael Bisping was in a position to challenge Anderson Silva for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight title on three different occasions.

His first chance came against Dan Henderson at UFC 100, but he was rendered unconscious by an incoming "H-Bomb" and sent to the back of the line. He was able to re-climb the 185-pound ladder and once again needed one big win to earn his crack at the crown.

Then Chael Sonnen defeated him at UFC on FOX 2.

Last but certainly not least, "The Count" went for his third attempt at UFC on FX 7 last month in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and was put on his ass by a Vitor Belfort head kick (watch it here), removing him from the middleweight title picture for the foreseeable future.

What do Henderson, Sonnen and Belfort all have in common (aside from getting finished by "The Spider")?

They all compete with a prescription for Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT), which Quinton Jackson (also a user) said "immediately changed him" for the better after a few small doses.

That is the most uneducated answer ever given on such a serious topic as this.

Michael Bisping lost to 3 PED users who cheated. That's the bottom line here.

Wether or not PED's are granted and used in moderation, the fact remains that the fighters using this type of bodily drug are enhancing their abilities to gain extra strength, power and stamina whilst carrying an injury or cutting/gaining weight or rehabilitating an injury.

No fighter in this sport should be allowed to fight whilst taking any form of an illegal substance wether it be testosterone or any form of enhancing drugs or pain relief. If you cannot train and balance a healthy body without the use of PED's, then don't fight, go do something else.

These fighters are not stupid, Belfort in particular knew that fighting in Brazil where drug testing is on a different legalization to the States and European commissions that he could up the dosage and get a certificate to back up his usage.

PED's are going to damage this sport and any fighter who uses them while they fight are bending the rules and are cheating. There is no other explanation for it, Fighters who use and fight with it are CHEATERS.

There are other options available, Randy Couture is a true example. There are several foods and supplements out there to introduce to a fighters diet which in the long run can have outstanding effects. Taking PED's is the quickest and easiest way to regain where these fighters lose. IMO it should come with the territory, If your a fighter, then you except the consequences of all of the above and should not be allowed under any circumstances to use any form of PED that would give any fighter any chance of an advantage over an opponent come fight night.

If PED's stay in this sport, even under the banner of being certified under controlled usage, the The UFC and other Major MMA productions may as well drop their weight classes and let welter weight's fight Light heavyweight's and Feather weight's fight Heavyweight's as the whole point of having a sanctioned weight class is to protect the fighters and make each weight division a neutral ground for all walks of fighters. Allowing PED's to circulate each weight class is adding more risk and taking away the whole point of having different weight classes in the first place as fighters, like Belfort and others i am sure abuse the system and leave very little room for debate there for this type of activity stays under the radar.

One rule for all, or none at all. PED's will be the end of this sport should they stay in MMA. Fighters who use it are CHEATS. Bottom line.

How is uneducated when Bisping lost to those 3 ? he lost. TRT didn't help Vitor against Anderson or Jones when he fought them."if he was getting it at that time" Hendo is legend as is Wanderlei.

Bisping has and will never beat a great fighter,Deal with it man.He beats mid-tier fighters and that's it.

Who is his biggest win?

Stann?? Mayhem??? Leben? C'mon meow...Just come to terms with reality that Bisping is B level fighter and get on with your life.

Educate me on what makes Bisping great??

Fighters that have used TRT or got popped for roids have also lost fights. It's not like they make you unstoppable, Does or can it help yeah it can, But in general the better fighter still finds a way to win.

And if you think Bisping has had or is having a better career than Vitor,Chael,Hendo,Wandy or Rashad then i think you should back away from using the word uneducated.

But your point is that Bisping lost to "Better" fighters.

Anybody on TRT is cheating their bodies natural ability and in using these PED's are able gain a huge advantage over any opponent by way of muscle, power and strength. Its no different in any sport, if you use PED's you are cheating !!! ... That does not make them "Better" does it ???

Belfort, Henderson & Sonnen are three fighters who have all used some form of PED's and have like most fighters won fights and lost fights. If all three of these guys have all used PED's throughout their careers keeping in mind different commissions have different regulations all over the world allowing fighters who use PED's to up or drop dosage to comply with the commissions where ever in the world they are fighting, then i would say what are the chances that most of the times they have lost or had a bad performance may come down to the amount of PED's they were able to use dependent on where they fought. Its a possibility, and considering these three fighters are blatant users of Testosterone then they are all open cheaters.

I do not think Bisping is a great fighter, but had he fought a clean, drug free Belfort in Brazil that there is a huge possibility that the fight would have played out differently. Belfort winning or losing, it should be on a level platform with no advantage through the use of PED's.

So how does that make them "Better" ??? ... Advantageous maybe, but not Better !!!

I'm sure there is a public library in your town, Most are free to join or hell you may even be able to google it but check out a science or anatomy book one day.as you get older your body slows down,Therefore creating less of what it used to, So the AC and doctors have found it acceptable that guys can use TRT to keep up to normal ratio of what the average bodies produce...so technically its not having advantage its having a ratio of what a nomal body produces...If it's not a ridiculous amount its fair....So stop make a deal about something that isn't.You'e making a mountain out of a mole hill.if it was cheating it'd be illegal and it's not so ITS NOT CHEATING.

"guys can use TRT to keep up to normal ratio of what the average bodies produce...so technically its not having advantage its having a ratio of what a nomal body produces"

You just said it yourself....

Adding TRT to an aging body is cheating your bodies natural capabilities to be able to gain what your body can no longer produce, that is why TRT is a PED. Monitored or not monitored, its a PED and would give any fighter a clear cut advantage, especially when some athletic commissions allow testosterone users to be up to 5 times over the normal amount !!!

... How you can say that's not a clear advantage for any fighter who uses TRT is beyond me !!!!

Yet you argue too that TRT users like Belfort do not gain any extra strength or fighting abilities from using TRT is just unbelievable, a little hint for you, that is the exact reason fighters like Belfort use it in the first place. To gain an advantage, these guys are not stupid !!!!

The fact that these Athletic regulators allow such drugs to be used in a controlled way gives a green light for fighters like Belfort to indulge all they can. Up to 5 times over???

Come on, Its like saying you can be up to 5 times your normal amount but not 6 times because that would be illegal !!!!

I'm still trying to figure out how using TRT is cheating when it's allowed by the state athletic commissions. You may personally think it's unfair, but cheating it is not, at least according to the rules in most, if not all, places that regulate MMA.

It's not an advantage when you're older,You're at a disadvantage when you get old and your body slows down,So TRT is able to keep at a regular level to what it used to be.If it was unfair it would be banned and it's not so give it up already man...geesh It's your opinion that it is cheating.

Of course it is an advantage when you are older, If your body no longer PRODUCES it and you are REPLACING it with TRT then you ENHANCING an aging bodies capabilities are you not ???

The rules may state that under the correct control TRT can be used, but up to 5 times over is a total contradictory considering a non user will be producing a lot less Testosterone than a fighter who is using TRT to replace it.

This whole debate is shadowed by the many different types of Testosterone and what each form does to the human body.

Testosterone is a chemical, Chemicals in the human body have significant effect. Its not up for debate, you use TRT, you cheat. Maybe not in the eyes of the Athletic commission, but by the laws of general drug usage in sports, you are cheating !!!

Hell, the AC may as well make weed legal as smoking weed would really Enhance a fighters capabilities right ? ... Wrong, weed has the complete opposite effect.

The AC Drug control in MMA is all wrong.

I'm sorry if you can't see my points here, i understand what you are saying, but i do not believe it is regulated the right way. Any fighter who puts chemicals in their body to replace chemicals that are no longer produced is enhancing their bodies abilities in a CONTROLLED way that allows them to train and fight in a way that they could not do if the TRT was not being used. It doesn't make it right, or legal in a sport that is so "HEAVILY REGULATED" by minimal drug usage.

If that is not cheating, then i don't know what is.

I agree 100%. Its not fair at all.

What i am saying here is that if the AC regulate TRT, then why is ok for a fighter to be up to 5 times over the average human levels come fight night?

Isn't that a bit of an advantage considering your opponent doesn't use TRT and that fighters Testosterone levels would be at a normal level?

If Drugs are banned from MMA, and you can get suspended and fined like "Nick Diaz" for traces of weed in your urine, then shouldn't all drugs be banned with no exemptions such as fighters being able to use TRT the way they are.

From the point of Belfort, he is not cheating, he would say "The athletics commission have granted me to use TRT so i am not breaking any rules"... Right?
But when you look into it and what TRT does, it replaces testosterone that the body can no longer produce.
Isn't that like installing a new pair of lungs to breath because as you've got older your lungs have clogged up causing you to have trouble breathing ???
... Its no different to cheating, if your body can no longer produce it, stop fighting.

A soccer player retires from soccer when their body starts to age causing them fitness problems. A boxer retires in the same way. A line runner the same. A swimmer the same. An MMA fighter ???

Aging is a part of life. TRT should not be an option.

Taking TRT up to 5 times over what your body used to produce would enhance your body in many ways my friend. Muscle, Power, Strength, Confidence, Flexibility the list goes on ..... That is why TRT is listed as a PED. Viagra is not !!

Yes i agree with it.Because they still have to test within the regulations of what is a normal ratio.

And from what i've heard Viagra does make your dick harder and last longer. But my point being is countering your natural vs unnatural statement.

Viagra would not make you up to 5 times harder and be able to go for up to 5 times longer depending on how many tablets you take would it? .. Probably not, but taking up to 5 times the normal amount of TRT on that proportion does. Your point is valid, it is legal, but i believe its a contradictory of its own ruling on PED's.

Right, well then based on the fact you agree with it as it is within the regulations, let me ask you this, should any drug, i mean any one of the PED's (provided it is controlled up to 5 times) be available to all MMA fighters ??

Yes as a 'merican we all have individual civil liberties as to what we want to put in our bodies.TRT replaces what is missing not boosting if taken within regulations. So once again it's not an advantage.

Your Individual Civil Liberties play no part what so ever when it comes to a world sport like MMA.

A sport like this in fueled with readily drug usage on all fronts would make this sport in to the complete opposite of what it has become today. Instead of having tough hard working champions like GSP or Jose Aldo, you'd get juiced up flop out has been champions like Alistair Overeem who can't put in a 5 round fight because his gas tank would only last for 2.

This sport would be yesterdays news pretty quick and the Athlete part of this sport would be non existent.

If you believe Juiced up fighters are acceptable then i suggest you move on to worlds strongest man or Mr Universe because this type of activity happens all day at these events.

MMA does not need PED usage. Its wrong and unfair to non users competing at the same level.

If your going to use a word like cheating at least have understanding of what the word means.

Cheating : To violate rules deliberately.

Belfort was caught dosing up on trt in the past and was dealt with accordingly. He's a cheater. He violated the rules deliberately.

Case in point right there !!!

It APPARENTLY didn't help him stuff a takedown against Hendo....case in point....plus he didn't file the NECESSARY paperwork prior to the fight....another case in point.
