Melendez Ready for Next Fight

Last Saturday night at Strikeforce at the Mansion, Gilbert Melendez, ranked as the No. 3 lightweight in the world by MMAWeekly.com, defeated Tetsuji Kato by unanimous decision. The interesting thing about how he beat Kato was that he did it with practically one hand.

It was a great fight. You have to have respect for a fighter that gets injured in a fight, adjusts his gameplan, and comes out on top. Strong Kid.

Melendez can hang with anyone.

i'd say melendez is the best fighter not named fedor that the ufc needs to get immediatley now!!! i'd like to see me some gilbert melendez wreaking havoc in the ufc lightweight division. but to be honest there's still a lot of lightweight talent not in the ufc, so with all of the other orgs doing cross promotion there's still a lot of match ups...how about gil vs jz?
