Holy Crap can you imagine Floyd fighting BJ Penn hahahahahah that would be hilarious to seem Tap. Floyd would fight at 145 and would probably be decent with a good 2 years of training in BJJ and hardcore wrestling but i think he has the talent and desire to do it. I'm not saying he's going to be a champ but i think he might find some sucess in the sport. I can definately see him beating Jens Pulvers ass.

Im not a fan of mayweather at all... but he would bring a massive load of fans to mma and he would do really good for the business.... and it would bury boxing even that much more...

You all DO realise Mayflowerboy is -never- going to have an MMA fight, right?
Not just never, but never ever ever. As in; no chance in hell, heaven, nirvana, oblivion or any other post-death, pre-death, afterlife, prelife plane of existance or non-existance.
Ok, just wanted to clear that up.
Thx, carry on.

If he's smart he'll invest heavily. If he's even smarter he'll train it and build up a guy like Uriah Fjaber or someone else until they are huge superstars---THEN fight them with modified rules.
THAT would bring in money.

Any rule modifiers would be hell for Faber because it would inevitably go in the favor of Mayweather and Urijah is not known as being a striking specialist.

Man if Money ends up in Cubans thing I'll be pretty angry. I really want the UFC to get him. I think Stevenson, BJ and Sherk could kill him. And I think the only who could stand with him in MMA is a 100% CC.
No joke.

It would be funny to put him in with a really good wrestler or jiu jitsu fighter and seem him tap out or get beaten down on the ground. Even a really good kickboxer would be entertaining. He would have a really good shot at beating strikers in the lightweight division but it would be interesting to see how he would adapt to kicks and knees in a fight.

He made about 10 million dollars for that floyd vs oscar superfight, and I heard he made even more for fighting ricky hatton
He has to go to psychical therapy 4 times a week because his body is starting to fall apart
Ive been seeing people talking about him fighting a real competitor 4-5 fights down the line
Im sure if this does happen, it will be against a can for one gigantic pay day, and that will be all said and done
Im almost positive this is just a marketing tool to get more people to take notice to HDNET Fights

He acctually made 35 million for his fight against Oscar. I dont think theres any chance Floyd fights in MMA, his hands and 4oz gloves will be the end of his boxing career.

I think that perhaps,Mayweathers first MMA opponent wouldn't even be an MMA fighter.I think he would play it a bit safer, and would actualy take on another boxer adapting to MMA rules.

Homeboy would get destroyed. I think he should just forget anybody ever said anything about this and keep talking smack about how boxing is better then "barbaric" MMA.
I mean Mayweather's boxing style is just horrible for MMA. If he thinks he's going to shoulder roll off punches. He's sadly mistaking. I think he will get taking down by anybody and GNP'd or submitted quickly.
I mean MMA is tons of hard work. He's a stand up fighter and boxing is all he knows. He's on 30 I believe so he better start training now. he needs to get a great sprawl and needs to leanr so JJ so he don't get tapped and he needs to know transition wrestling to be able to get back to his feet.
I think it's too late for him. I can't see him beating anybody but a Chuck Liddel type fighter. Another boxer-kickboxer that won't take you to the ground. Maybe Houston? I don't know, I just think this is a really, really, REALLY bad move...

Wasn't his father a kick boxer and that is what Mayweather began in? Isn't his brother or cousin or something train, coach, and have a MMA gym? Didn't Mayweather wrestle in high school?
I read an article a few days ago about him in either MMAworldwide or TAPOUT, I had a feeling he was gonna dip his hands in MMA. I persoanlly feel he may fight a couple times against safe opponents but mainly promote HD.

I think this is only good for MMA in the sense that it gives more 'publicity' to it. So, I say bring them on. Personally, I've wanted to see Vitali Klitschko in MMA ever since I heard he was a kickboxing champ.

Yea I dont think Floyd will go MMA, or at least he shouldnt.; or it wouldnt make that much sense.
Money is a big deal, and if the most highly respected, beloved, etc..... person (Randy Couture and even Fedor) wants more money, then im pretty sure Floyd Mayweather wouldnt fight unless the money was right (equivalent to boxing.. and thats not going to happen)
I would like to see him in MMA though.. I think he could do really good. If he is able to wrestle, BJJ a little bit.. but just have a good sprawl, he can do good.

Id love to see The Hitman and him have a rematch in a cage. I just dont think Mark Cuban can honestly offer him the $30 million he quoted. Fedor Couture will be Cubans cash cow for 2008.

Either...
1. He's made so much money at boxing, he doesn't care about the $$ and just wants to do something new.
2. He's crazy, like Mike Tyson crazy, and really believes he could do well
3. Like others have already said, he's just doing this for Cuban's sake and hopes to get something out of that relationship down the road.

I would personally love to see him fight MMA, we havent seen a striker with his talents in MMA yet so nobody can really write him off , he needs to go train with Hackleman and Liddell and learn some sprawl and brawl to be successful in MMA if he is really serious about a move.

Well,I realy don't know how well he would do in MMA.I'm incline to agree with Greene33 on this to an extent.I'm not saying he would dominate, but I think about guys like Crocop who got a decent sprawl and learned how to defend the ground game very well, and became very dominant in MMA.Granted, their is a major difference in Kickboxing and boxing,I think some people might be just writing him off a little too fast.

Let's see. It was over 120 million dollars made off the PPV. Over 20 million made for the gate. Millions made off of Merch and a couple million made off of the "live" show with Delahoya and Mayweather that went behind the scenes.
Officially I believe Mayweather made 20 million off of that fight.
OFficially DalHoya made 45 million off of that fight. His company made the rest. However, you should assume a 10-15% over head for marketing, fees, etc... So, Either way Dela ends up making over 100 million directly or indirectly. Craziness.
