If Sean Salmon wins he deserves another shot in the UFC but I still think He will get destroyed by Mayhem...

Why exactly? He has done nothing but fight cans since his last UFC fight. The only fight against decent opposition, he got subbed. In a tiny show. That doesnt justify being brought back.

Wins over guys with 3-2, 13-16, 5-3, and 4-4 records. A loss to Travis Wiuff. Yeah, get him a contract, ASAP!!!!

He was one of Rashad Evans' best KO's. Kick to the head.

He doesn't just fight cans, most these guys are up and comers and are on the main events of their smaller venue shows and Sean takes most these fights because the original fighter backed out for whatever reason. He really has nothing to gain and everything to loose by taking these fights.

His last opponent he took the fight on less then a month notice just to get another fight under his belt. The fight before that which you didnt mention his opponent was 16-4. Jason Jones is an up and comer from the Midwest with a very strong wrestling background and solid striking skills but Sean took him out in the 1st round. The 3-2 guy Jason Freeman is something like 74-5 in toughman competition and is quickly becoming a fan favorite in figh fest cards because of his knockout power and boxing/kickboxing skills.

Sean is staying active and trying to get as many fights under his belt as possible and coninue to improve his MMA skills.

You are defending him with Toughman competition stats?

Its obvious that you are a fan of him (and I see that you are from Ohio, so hes a hometown guy, understandable...), but he hasnt fought anyone that would warrant bringing him back. I said nothing about his work ethic... Yes, he fights a lot. But there are a dozen other guys that deserve a shot before him.

Oh, and I didnt mention the "16-4 guy" you were referring to (it's actually 16-5-2, but who is counting...) -- I didnt mention him for a reason. His record looks pretty and all, but you may want to look at who he has fought before you use him as your defense... His momentum died a few years ago, and since then he has losses to Rodney Faverus, Matt Horwich, and two losses to Alex Stiebling.

I dont mind Salmon at all, but there is a whole slew of guys that deserve a trip to the bigs before that guy gets another shot...

I'm really not a fan of Salmon. I root for him since he is a local fighter but not really a fan of him. I just know who he is fighting since he lost to the UFC since most of them are from the Midwest. I agree with you in that there are a lot more fighters that deserve a chance in the UFC and he has already had his chance. At least it looks like he is trying to fight the best competetion he can outside the UFC, I guess that is what I was trying to say.

Ill agree with ya there. He is trying to get as much experience as he can, and it will pay off if he can stay healthy.

Really? Sean Salmon, huh? Isn't this the Mark Cuban org? Can't he get someone better than that to fight Mayhem? I'd like to see Dirk Nowitzki vs. Mayhem. Dirk would have the huge height advantage, and seeing him in trunks would make Mayhem laugh so hard that Dirk could KO him, I think...

vs. ??????

Study up boys. There's some MMAth for you.

This one's not going to end up in the favor of Salmon.

rcg - i think you missed the most important thing natedawg said - it was IF he wins this fight against Mayhem he deserves to be back in the UFC, he has 1 fight left on his contract so will be back at some point, he had 2 tough fights against Rashad and Belcher (who just wasnt going to lose that fight!), and dont forget that those were at LHW and he is now fighting at 185, Salmon could be strong at 185 so dont right him off based on those 2 ufc losses

i dont see it as a bad opponent for miller,,, and other than that.. is a good match for mark cuban and HDnet... they are barely starting with this... also
the new jersey card from the UFC sucks even more...
