I would say he did at least a little. Ever since that fight GSP always rather go to the ground, he can't finish a fight, and he doesn't really push the pace when he stands up. I would say Serra changed him.

He doesn't always go to the ground....ask Josh Koscheck & Fitch.

Yeah, Serra influenced GSP in evolving his game for sure....thanks Matt

False. GSP really didn't change until he got the belt back and defended a couplr times.

GSP couldn't finish Kos when he fought with one eye. He absolutely finished Kos, to me it seems like he is hesitant.

Yea he changed him into a less wreckless and more successful fighter. He made him smarter and matured him too. But I still don't think he's boring.

He gave GSP the drive to be great, and he hasn't lost since.

Everyone needs a little motivation.

GSP certainly isn't as flashy as he was before, but he seems to be a much more calculating fighter now. There definitely has been a change in style, but a new camp(Jackson's), age, and experience also factor into it as well. I wouldn't go so far as to say he's boring now, but I will say that he takes every fight more seriously now, and holding on to the belt seems more important to him now as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't GSP said himself that that fight changed the way he game plans. He takes less risks and "never takes an opponent lightly." I think the whole "this is my toughest opponent ever" thing started after Serra rung his bell.

Of course he changed the way GSP fights. GSP now lacks killer instinct, afraid that if he tries to jump a hurt opponent he will get caught by a lucky shot. When he knocked Jake down with the headkick in round three or four, i forget, why didnt he at least go to the ground for one or two follow up shots? he dint have to get stuck in guard but he didnt have to just stand and wait for jake to get back up. GSP is boring and is more concerned about keeping his belt than anything else. GSP would get crushed by Silva, absolutely crushed.

I got to say it's true. I mean GSP isn't boring at all. He dominates thoroughly, even more now than before the Serra fight. But I feel he's a little more hesitant now, somewhat lacking in his attempt to finish his opponents. I think that all stems from being rocked and dropped by Serra. I think he suffers from PTSD....damn Serra.

I don't think he's boring. Look at his complete set of skills. He can do whatever he wants to. I think the main reason he didn't jump into Shields' guard is because that's Shields best position and opportunity to win the fight or at least get control via a sweep. I do agree that Silva would dominate him....standing. If GSP can take him down like Sonnen did, then he would have a really good chance of grinding out a decision.
