I think Mark Hunt does not get enough credit in his last fight against Fedor, I mean other than CroCop and Fujita He came the closest to defeating the terminator and I'm really looking forward to his next MMA fight. He has great potential to become the next Pride HW champ imo, he just needs to improve on sub defense and his ground game, which in his fedor fight he showed( even though he had a significant weight advantage over fedor)

anyone else agree/disagree?

If Pride hopes to make it in America they must play the state athletic commision's game. Hunt is not a heavy weight so his future in that division is murky. If Pride was just in Japan then maybe he would be in the picture. I like Hunt but Fedor is complete fighter

Hunt not a heavyweight??? That guy is huge! He is a great fighter how is his future in the heavyweight division murky? Hunt doesn't do many soccerkicks or knees on the ground so why would he be any worse in America? Your post makes no sense to me could you explain better?

Most definitely... He's got all the tools on his feet... the best chin in MMA... He did look much improved [on the ground] against Fedor, but I don't think that Hunt will be the man that beats him...

If Fedor would retire, then I think Hunt would definitley have a chance, but to have to get through a guy like Nog or trying Barney again would prove difficult for a guy with Hunt's limited ground game...

a match up with AleksE. though, would be a really entertaining fight, IMO

Who would you like to see him fight next?

hunt is a bit heavy and maybe cant make heavyweight standards, also he is not allowed to fight in u.s because of legal issues... he was supposed to fight for the first pride event in usa but they wouldnt let him. he was to fight butterbean but they brought in the bum sean o'haire

i think what he means is that is Mark Hunt wants to fight in America he was to follow the SAC rules.....and Mark Hunt is too heavy to fight in heavyweight,so i think thats what he means that he's not really a heavyweight....

I don't think Hunt would have too much trouble cutting to 265lbs... What did he way in the Fedor fight? 175 - 180???

Jeez guys, sorry I made a mistake, I meant 275-280lbs

I didn't know he was all the way up to 3 bills for the Fedor fight, but I think if Sylvia walks around at close to 300 (so I've heard) and can cut to 265, then Idon't see why Hunt couldn't.

Hunt hasn't been 175 since junior high school. He fights at about 300. UFC heaveyweight stops at 265lbs. Sylvia cuts weight. The Super Heaveywight is where Hunt would have to fight in the UFC

I think Hunt nees to get in shape, at least down to 250 lbs., to be a contender against any well rounded MMA heavyweight. His ground is subpar ,as of now, and he would need to get better there to beat any well rounded fighter. FIghting someone like Mirko, Allek's, Sylvia, who want to stand predominantly he has a good shot. he already beqt Cro-cop once. However, Barnett, Fedor, Arlovski, Werdum, Nog,Kharitanov would allt ake him to the ground and sub him right now at the first sign of trouble IMO. It's the reason I rank him # 9 at heavyweight personally. I still think HVY's wih a big reach advantage and good chin's would beat him anyway. I'm not saying he can't be a champ, just not until he thins out and improves more on his ground game.

He is too big is my point. No way he can make 265.
