Hopefully, the third time is a charm for Canadian fighter Mark Hominick.

The onetime featherweight title challenger is set to meet Eddie Yagin at UFC 145, which takes place March 24 at Bell Centre in Montreal.

UFC officials today confirmed the bout. It's not yet known whether Hominick vs. Yagin will be part of the event's pay-per-view main-card or the preliminary lineup, which is expected to air on FX.

RIP Eddie Yagin. Don't know why Mark gets such a step down in competition. Maybe a gimmie fight to get his confidence back up?

I've been waiting to see who he was fighting next. Not sure this fight makes much sense but regardless, I'm excited to see him back in there

Hominick gets back on the right track after this fight.....I feel like they dropped him down a lot. maybe there was no one else for him to fight.

I think Dana & Joe feel a little bad for The Machine after he got flash KOd in his own front yard by a smiley korean dude. Feeding him Yagin should get Mark back on track

Like some of you have already said, Hominick is a top 5. Why is he being pitted against such a new comer ....and not just a new comer - but a fighter who is essentially on the bottom or near the bottom of the totem pole?

This fight makes no sense to me. Hominick should be getting guys from the top ten list.

Wasnt Hominick the man to dethrone Aldo? wasnt he supposed to run through KZ? honestly I think the guy is a bit overrated and his record shows that. I'd pick a lot of the same guys who beat him in the past, Hioki, Yahya, Grispi. So I dont think we should act like he's going to run over any up and coming guy or a guy out of the top 10. Hominick isnt even in the top 10 anymore he's building his way back to the top like he should. A fight with Hominick and Kenflo for example means nothing, Yagin will test whether Hominick belongs in the UFC anymore or not.

Wow at you saying Hominick is top 5, but anyway..

He should get a top 10 after two consecutive, dominant losses when he has no big name wins? one loss being a 7 second knockout that wasnt a fluke, so dont even go down that road. If Hominick is top 5 then KZ is top 3, which he's not, youre being ridiculous with your specific ranking here. Hominick is barely top 15, what top 10 guy has he beat? he loses to any caliber fighter he's faced, just look at his record please. His best wins are Yves Edwards and and Yves Jabouin.

Hominick *needs* to win this fight to stay relevant in the UFC.

This is kinda a whack fight. How do u go from fighting Aldo and Korean Zombie to Yagin. Even tho he lost those 2 this big of a step down is lame. But at least Mark should look really good in his home country!!

i'm gonna be the lone ranger pulling for Yagin in this one. Yagin (IMO) is much better than he looked against Assuncao. I'd hate to see Mark lose 3 in a row but i'd much rather see Eddie get a win in the UFC. He has the skills to be competitive in the UFC. I really believe that whole big stage jitters adrenaline dump thing is real because he wasn't himself at all in that last fight.

Well to be fair one of them was against a dominant champion in a title fight and the other was like a 10 second fight where he just got blasted once in the face. Anyone can get caught, it doesn't really say much at all about either fighter's skill level when one guy just walks up and knocks the other one out in 10 seconds. I might not put him in the top 5 but I don't see how you can say he doesn't deserve to fight guys in the top 10.

I dont recall giving Hominick a single round despite it being somewhat close, and to me its not relevant if you get knocked out in 7 seconds or 7 seconds left in the fight. Hominick still showed a suspect chin and kept his hands down to get dropped like he has in the past. I just dont think he's a top 10 guy anymore and I think most top 10s agree with that but even if they dont why should a guy get a top 10 fighter after two straight losses, it just doesnt follow no matter how high profile or good you think someone is. If he fights Florian next for example (a fight he would lose badly imo) he has lost 3 straight and his career is essentially almost doomed.

Hominick vs Yagin makes sense, loser leaves town is an understatement for this fight.
