I most definitely think so. He is an incredibly disciplined and balanced fighter. A lifer in the world of martial arts if you will. He has proven himself against very different and excellent fighters which ups his potential rating by leaps and bounds. I'd definitely like to see how he matches up with the big boys like Shogun, Jackson, Henderson, and even Liddell. I'm very disappointed with his ousting from his fight with Shogun. Only time will tell I guess.

YES YES YES! I wish people would give machida a shot! He's a very talented young fighter, he's still growing and he's going to devolop finishing power. I would like to see him and arona or overeem to decide who takes on either chuck, rampage or henderson for a #1 contenders match after shogun get's his of course. This is assuming/hoping the UFC signs overeem and/or arona.

I agree. Machida is a great fighter who diserves a chance. He has wins over Franklin and B.J. Penn and I think they are both top named fighters. It is o.k. he will get his chance soon.

Yea i mean now that Manchida has an opening in his schedule for oh say.... UFC 76 why not put him against Chuck. Forget Jardine thats a lose for both fighters and nothing good can come of it. Chuck is getting old and he already is past his prime but they have to get as much out of him as he still is the face of UFC to a lot of people. An exciting chuck vs manchida fight would be much more appealing compared to a predictable Jardine vs Chuck fight.

Yeah he deserves it, and they were going to put him on the UFC 70 show. They hyped it up and all..then didn't even show the fight. Lame!

I would like to know if Machida is hurt or anything. I still haven't read or heard anything on why he isn't fighting Shogun. I don't think he would turn down th fight or anything, but peoples suppositions on the reason do nothing for me. So I'll just reserve judgment till I hear something more substantial.

Lyoto is one of those fighters that will fight to his potential if pushed to his limits. That's why I was so hoping to see him face off against Shogun. That would have been a sick fight and I could definitely see Lyoto winning it.

Shogun is a beast but Lyoto's precise countering would pick apart Shogun's sloppy boxing. Lyoto has good enough wrestling to avoid the TD and even if taken down, he has good jiu-jutsu. All Lyoto really needs to worry about is the clinch and Shogun's pace. If Lyoto is able to effective control the rhythm of the fight, he stands a great chance at winning.

Lyoto needs to move down to 185. He is a soft 205, and he gets lost in the mix there. Give him one fight against a top 185er and then bring on Anderson. After Rich there is no one for Silva to fight anyway.
