Luke Cummo vs Tamdan McCrory fight set for UFC 87

Finals are over at The State University of New York at Cortland (SUNY Cortland), which means that recent graduate Tamdan McCrory can resume his mixed martial arts career inside the Octagon.

“The Barncat” took a brief respite from competition to get his degree after falling victim to one of the most beautiful armbars in recent memory at UFC 78: “Validation,” losing to crafty veteran Akhiro Ghono in round two via submission back in November 2007.

He will return against The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 2 welterweight finalist, Luke Cummo, at UFC 87 at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn., on August 9, according to FightTicker.com.

Cummo is also looking to bounce back from a loss after dropping a unanimous decision to Luigi Fioravanti at UFC 82: “Pride of a Champion” back in March. Prior to the defeat Cummo was on a two-fight win streak after losing back-to-back fights.

UFC 87 will feature the heavyweight tilt between Brock Lesnar and Mark Coleman, as well as the number one lightweight contender eliminator match between Kenny Florian and Roger Huerta.

if cummo loses i think he will be cut from the ufc,
he has more to lose than mccrory, but good undercard match

Good point, for that reason i think Cummo takes it.

Wonder what Rogans commentating will be like for this fight.

I can't believe Cummo is still in the UFC. I like him but he hasn't been getting the big wins.

this is a great fight, the battle of the geeks but i really like them both and want to see them stay in the UFC, hoping for a draw then

I have to say I kinda like this fight. I know it won't be on the main card but I'll be watching it on this website right when someone posts it. The one thing I do have to say is that I think this fight is shaping up to be a loser leaves the UFC match. So if thats true I have to be routing for Tamdan. I like the guy.

I just like both of these guys and would hate to see one lose because it could be their ticket out of the UFC. It makes sense and should be action packed but I hope it goes to a draw too almost.

Wasn't McRory suppose to be on the VH1 show, geek training or something?

Cummo by KO in the 2nd round. The Jedi is going to bang it out with big knees and sharp elbows. Luke Cummo is one of my favorite fighters in the UFC and I would love to see him get some wins so he will stop being buried on the prelims.

Man i hope Cummo gets the KO he needs it bad
