Have you ever found something awesome or worth a good deal of money, and if so, what was it?

Today at work, I busted open a roll of pennies, and found a wheat penny inside. My boss collects them and I made a list of all the dates and stamps for wheat pennies that are actually worth money, so they don't get mixed in with the cheaper ones. Its a 1931-s, so I check my list and it says its worth something. I figured it would be worth a buck or something, but I looked in a coin collecter magazine we have at work, and its worth $80! Not a bad find at all.

Anyone else have a story?

My wife. And before you jump on my case for being corny, listen:

I was working in Saudi Arabia at the time. 99% on non-arab women there are filipino nurses, nannys and such. Very few single women get onto the compounds we stay on so your pretty much stuck with your hand.

My wife was working as a nurse in a local hospital and a freind of hers made some compound connections and got them on one weekend.

So in a place where the men wear dresses and the women are completely covered, I met a hot, blond, european nurse who was immediately into me. Talk about a lucky find!

I once was taking a shortcut through the woods behind me house. As i was walking in i found someones beer stash. Now 4 beer might not seem so amazing now, but when your 14 it means the world too you.

Wouldn't jump on your case for that... Almost makes me wanna visit the middle east

I'd say that counts as a pretty good find... And you said she was European? Which obviously means that she can cook... Well done

Oh, good idea for a thread. I guess the coolest things I've found are arrowhead and spearheads. It's really cool to think something was made so long ago and could have possibly been used to hunt or fight in wars and you now own it.

I live in a big ass 30acre ranch....about 60 percent of it we keep clean and stuff, but the other 40 is like a Jungle! with grass up to your Waist and a. crapload of trees......well the only time we go back there is when me and my friends are bored and we wanna trip out and smoke weed walking through a jungle...

Well anyways.....It had been months since we had been back there and when we finally decided to go back there again we found this HUGE Marijuana tree with huge buds and we had no idea it was growing there.....it was for sure more than ........i really wish i had found it on my own,but since me and 2 of my close friends found it together we had to split it in 3

This was like 3 years ago..It was Good!

i also once found a $50 bill in a puddle of mud at a car wash

Nice! I got a real silver 50 cent piece before because a lady wanted a pack of smokes, so she raided her husbands coin collection. They were mostly the post 64 coins, but there was a silver one in the pile. Drunks and smokers are always good for rare coins.

Once found a $500 dollar chip on the floor by the craps table at the luxor when I dropped my wallet . I was taking it out to tip the waitress, and it fell. It was only me and 2 buddies at the table at the time, and I knew it wasn't theirs, so I just palmed it when I bent over. Was afraid she had seen my pause and was gonna ask what for, but she looked oblivious. So I tipped her 20 bucks for my free drink and she left unaware. Lost it all a half hour later though

I've never been to a casino, but I've heard stories like that a few times from other people. That and strip club parking lots seem to be the places to find giant wads of cash laying on the ground.

As for losing the $500, technically you didn't lose anything, so at least you had fun with it!

I used to be the first to search the dance floor after concerts when I was a bouncer. I have found some pretty good schwag before. One of my buddies took the prize tho, he came up to me in the middle of a show with a folded up 100$. He picked it up and put it in his pocket right away. At the end of the night he discovered it was four 100$s. I have found all kinds of crap from large amounts of coke and weed, to jewelry and knives. I flushed all the drugs anything that looked valuable would go in a lost and found for 90 days. Then we would decide what to do with the stuff. Usually that involved a trip to the pawn shop and a nice bbq after.

When I was 8, I found a 20 dollar bill at Disneyland. When I remarked excitedly out loud about it, the elderly female clerk claimed it was hers (even though she was on the other side of the store) and actually physically took it from my hand before my parents could say anything...

Mean old lady.

These aren't really lucky finds I guess, its funny though.

When I was going through my pot smoking phase in highschool, I would hide money around my room; inside books, in my suit, between my mattress, pinned behind posters, etc.

Well, I guess I had forgot I had hidden money a few times. I've come across three $20s; one hidden in the pages of an old text book, one pinned behind a poster, and another in the inside pocket of my suit. Haha.

I'm always finding cool *hit in my dreams, like wads of cash, diamonds, jars of quarters, etc. I've woken up a few times only to realize I didn't have whatever I had found in my dream. Its very disappointing, LOL.

HA! I hear ya. I had a dream a few years back when I was really hard up for money, and I dreamt I'd found an old paycheck for $400 and put it my safe, so when I woke up, I thought it was real and then I couldn't find it. I was bullshit for a good 15 minutes until I realized I'd never keep a paycheck laying around and not cash it, and that it never happened.

i work as a doorman in a nightclub in england and whilst you normally find money the best thing i've found was a watch..

the story goes

we had an act on inside the club and i was on stage to stop anyone getting on.. when i'd finished i returned to the door and there were loads of people that had been refused (for whatever reasons) and there in front of every body outside was this watch i picked it up and asked all the guys i was working with if it was thiers or if there had been any trouble
everyone said no so i pocketed the watch and when i looked it was an armani watch so i took it to the jewellers and had it valued and it was worth £100 minimum....
needless to say it looks great on my wrist
