i never got the whole hardcore dancing, but i do like the pits at shows. i don't even care for the music, i just like hitting random people

haha i laughed pretty good. i went to hardcore show (my friends took me) where Winds of Plague headlined, and there were kids in the mosh.. and one fat kid did a jumping back heel kick and knocked some small kid out.. i couldn't stop laughing

i almost pissed myself when i saw the one kid push the guy in front of him down, and then take his spot flailing his arms in the air.
If that was ANY other concert, that kid would have been clocked with something vicious.

But nope, the kid just gets up and starts swinging his arms around. Because its rebellious. And Rebellious behavior is cool. , if i have a kid and he does that **** im going to have to beat him. I feel bad for those parents who just couldnt bear to beat their children. SEE! this is what you created negligible parents!

So I sign on to my beloved playground this morning and this is the blasphemy I see.

It's not gay, you just don't get it. I've been going to hardcore shows for 10+ years and have seen the evolution of hardcore dancing. It takes a lot to go out and dance in a real pit with other kids who could own you and try and throw down.

Labeling something gay is pretty judgemental, especially since you'd probably get eaten alive at a real show.

This is hardcore!

I'm sure they have some really "great" hardcore shows in Long Beach. If you want to see hardcore, you gotta come to the east coast.

That's the reason I stopped going. I used to play for a HC Punk band and had a lot of fun until these so called "dancers" started to ruin shows, specially the ones that target the little crowds that are just hanging listening to the music and run right over them to push-kick or whatever they do. I don't care about "the history of the movement" or "that's what the underground scence is about" or whatever they say, if I go to I show to see some band I like I would not enjoy getting kicked in the face while being standing in a corner listening to the music apart from the pit where all those retards are. I agree, it's gay.

It's fun to throw a little martial arts into slam dancing. I love punk, and I love slamming. I'm trying to teach these new punks coming up the old Huntington Beach strut and how to actually cricle in a pit.

Calling it gay probably means you're into those crap pits where a bunch of dumb metal heads stand arond bumping eachother and banging their stupid heads. Get out there and dance, it's not about trying to look cool!

Oh, and if you don't like getting hit a little... why are you there?

I think its lame. When I go to shows I just want to watch the bands and have fun. I dont want some little turd sprinting into me looking like hes trying to impersonate a ******* Gorilla.

What really pisses me off though is when they come jumping into me, and im clearly not into it and telling them to go act gay somwhere else, and they're all like "oh this is a gig man, if you dont like it dont come". Its like, who gave you the right to decide what happens in gigs. Mabeys ill just decide to chicken wing you in the throat next time you come near me and itl be cool becouse where at a gig. Dicks.

well i dont know how you chicken wing someone in the throat(its a wrestling move) but i agree with you aaronno9, it just looks like a bunch of angst ridden teenagers acting like fools. then again if i want to be a glass half full kind of a guy, i have some new moves for the next wedding i go to.

They think this is serious? This can't be....

i just want to add that the shows i have been to are more like what breakdown posted. i absolutely LOVE mosh pits (and i mean real mosh pits, not dancing circles like the ones you showed) and it's the whole reason i go to shows lol. if i wanted to hear the music i would buy the CD or download their songs instead of standing there for like 5 hours. i like just going into a put and getting hurled around as if you were in a blender haha.

Theres a difference between a mosh pit, and spinning your arms like bart simpson for attention.

oh i completely agree, i was just saying i don''t want everyone to knock hardcore all together.

Maybe its because i listen more to rap, but i never associated Moshpits with hardcore dancing.

Ive been in a moshpit before, and it was just entirely different. The theme was more about inflicting pain on one another in the moshpit, whereas hardcore dancing seems to be more about the hardcore dance moves your doing, and how awesome it is that youre as hardcore as you are.

But maybe im just being a hardcore dance hitler. Tolerance is key.

This seems to be a misunderstanding.

Hardcore dancing is not moshing, it is dancing in a way wher you do not CARE if you hit someone, but that is not the goal. Moshing and circle pits have the GOAL of striking eachother.

It's guy's who think the point is just to "inflict pain" and slam into eachother that are killing the scene. Punk is about having fun, so you go out, and do your stupid little dance, and no one judges eacother, because we're all having fun acting like fools.

It's not angry dancing, it's dancing with a joyful abandon. Like skanking. I bet you think that's gay too?

Id say it might be you who doesnt know much about punk if you think that kind of whack dancing happens at punk shows....

While hardcore did come out of punk, it has gone in a completely different direction. There is an entire subculture associated with the hardcore scene, some aspects of it are awesome and some are not. There are a lot of tough guys out there who will try and hit people that are just standing around, but they get dealt with accordingly.

There was no punk in those videos.

I have been listening to punk since i was 11 years old when my sister gave me an Operation Ivy Tape(tapes hehe, time flies by)

And its people like these hardcore kids that ruin the scene. Because 90% of them think if your not dressed or acting like them then you dont deserve to be there. Which is the exact oposite of what it really means to be punk

Not to be a dick but you've never seen me, some guys on the Playground have seen me wrestle, all of those kids are about 140 lbs lol, I'm 6'2 200 lbs

And I wasn't being judgemental, that was just the title of the video on youtube
