Lindland was in attendance for UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva's title defense against Rich Frankiln at UFC 77 on Oct. 20 in Cincinnati, Ohio. When questioned about Silva's performance, Lindland said, "I thought he looked phenomenal. I've always thought he was a good fighter, and he's getting better and better."

"His striking is, I think, the best in MMA. I don't think anybody else uses their striking skills as good as he does. I think my wrestling is the best in MMA. And I think I'd like to match up with him and see if I can close the distance and put him on the ground and out maneuver him on the ground, or see if he can keep the distance and create that space that he needs to do damage. And he doesn't need much space."

lindland-silva would be a good matchup. if dan doesnt want to drop weight then i think that may be the best option for the ufc.

besides hendo, lindland is the only fighter at 185 that can beat silva, i dont know if he will beat him if they fight but her certainly can. because of this the ufc needs to bring him in.

We should start a petition or something to get Dana to see that the fans want him in, he may very well be the only middleweight that can beat Silva. I am a HUGE fan of Silva, but that is nothing compared to how much I like to see Champions fighting the TOP contenders, or the best against the best, not who will sell the most....what do you guys think?

With Kang's recent KO in K-1 I think it's pretty fair to say that Lindland and Filho are about the only competition that Silva has at this point. In the event of Henderson dropping down that might change, but I don't see that happening in the near future. Dana should try to acquire Lindland for this fight.

Not only this fight, but just bringing him back full time w/l/d is exactly the type of aquirements they need for a very weak div that doesn't have to be. I have been hoping this'd happen for a long time... so i'm not holding my breath. But I HOPE it happens soon.

Not likely though. Dana hates Lindland for some retarded reason.

Call it retarded, that's you opinon. I think it should be done by now, but having a betting site as a major sponsor hurt the integrity. I can see where Dana's right in one sense, I would just think as adults and business men that would be over by now.

But if you thought Kang had a chance then surely that would transfer to Akiyama? There are plenty who i think have a fair enough chance to eventually get shots, Robbie Lawler would be one for example but he is tied down with elite xc i think, if they cant get Hendo then it has to be Okami, it would be a good fight and would really show Silva striking skills, same if they could get Machida to cut to 185

LOL mate you dont actually believe thats the reason do you?
That was just the crappy excuse Dana gave so he could get rid of the seemingly boring fighter with no charisma who was clearly going to beat his poster boy Franklin

It wasn't the only reason, prob'ly not the main reason, but he breached his contract and made it too easy to get rid of him.
